“Fantastic Week!”
Reviewed 17 July 2014

Stayed for one week with my boyfriend and had a brilliant stay! The room was clean and roomy and the air conditioning kept the room very cool. The pool was right outside and it was kept very clean and tidied every night. Security is very good and the bar area was very well maintained. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. Wish we had booked a longer holiday. Would highly recommend this hotel. Very close to the strip but far enough away that it was quiet when you need to sleep.

We stayed at Maria Rousse for one week in Mid June. The Strip was not for us although we did venture down just to see what it was all about. Malia has so much more to offer, just take a walk up into the old town and experience a typical Greek environment and some wonderful restaurants. Stalis which is a short walk away is also very welcoming. As for Maria Rousse itself it was perfect. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and made you feel like one of the family. Take a trip to Spinalonga and visit the old leper colony made famous in the book 'The Island'. Will definitely go back again.

Me and my 3 friends stayed at the Maria Rousse for our first girls holiday on the 1st of July for a week. We took advantage of the excellent food every morning for breakfast and ate tea there a few times. All the staff were lovely and the security guard, Tony, was brilliant! He looked after our keys while we were out at night. The cleaners were also brilliant. They cleaned our rooms every other day and were friendly. I especially liked how they lined our shoes up and presented any pyjamas neatly on our bed. The hotel was located in a perfect position for me and my friends to access the corner shop, supermarket and main strip.

The Maria Rousse definitely deserves a higher star rating than it currently has.

Me and 6 of my girlfriends flew out to Malia in June 2014 and stayed in Maria Rousse studios for 1 week but I wish it had been longer. The owners and everyone who worked there were so attentive and lovely and were happy to help if you asked them! Lovely pool area with plenty of space for sunbathing and bar food is lush! (Especially the chicken gyros). We went out on the strip every night as it was only a 3 minute walk away and it was so fun, so much happening even in June which is early in the season! Despite the strip being so close once back at the hotel you couldn't hear a thing! Another lovely thing to come back to at the hotel after a night out was lovely tony the security guard! So friendly and nice and always looked happy to see us (even if he wasn't) hahah!
Went out for 2 meals in Old Town Malia as well for some traditional greek food which was delicious and only a 10 minute walk.
Overall it was such a fun first girls holiday and I would recommend this hotel very highly and would love to go back! Whether your 17 and want the nightlife or not it would be perfect!
P.s safari is the best club on the strip ever. Completely hilarious.

second time of staying at the Maria Rousse and once again we were not disappointed there was a party of 19 arriving 10th June till the 17th, so we more or less took over the place ,and our hosts George and Barbara were fantastic, nice quite area and a short stroll for the famous Malia Strip
and the old town was really nice
to sum up this is by far the best accommodation in Malia book early as this is a very popular place

Room Tip: All the rooms are very good

I've just come back from a weeks holiday in Malia staying at the Maria Rousse. The hotel is in a perfect location - just around the corner from the main Malia strip but still far enough away for it to be quiet at night.
The hotel itself was lovely, very clean, well maintained and very friendly staff. The room we had was a ground floor twin room with patio doors, the kitchen had basic amenities like kettle, toaster, a two ring hob, pots and pans, crockery and cutlery and a fridge which we found to be perfect for us as we went out to eat most of the time anyway. But there is a Spar just around the corner that sells everything you could think of.
The only issue I really had with the rooms were that the walls were very thin. So thin, in fact, that I even heard our neighbour stir their cup of tea in the morning, so you can imagine what other kind of noises there were (!)
The location itself is very picturesque with beautiful mountains all around the island which you're able to explore if you go on the Jeep Safari excursion which was very good. Lots of other excursions are available, we also went to Watercity water park which was fantastic and took a coach to Heraklion to go shopping which was equally as good.
The pubs, restaurants and shops along the strip are very good. If you're souvenir shopping its worth looking around first as most of the shops sell similar things but can vary in price e.g a fridge magnet could be 4euros in one shop but just 1euro in another.
One pub/restaurant that I would highly recommend would be The Red Lion which is at the far end of the strip next to mini golf. They have the most amazing meals at such good value, staff are great and the atmosphere is lovely. They also give you a voucher for 20% off Mini Golf when you eat in there and Mini Golf gives you a voucher for 10% off a meal in the Red Lion which is nice.
I found the beach to be a bit too busy (jam packed with sunbeds) but if you follow signs to Malia sea port and go straight down to the end theres a quiet part of beach with no sunbeds which was lovely, especially as the sun goes down.
All in all it was such a lovely holiday and if I was returning to Malia in the future I would definitely stay at the Maria Rousse again!

Just got back from from one of the most relaxing holidays I have had for a long time .. Would recommend this complex to anyone it was so clean, well maintained and the staff were great nothing was too much trouble. Of an evening the grounds look magical with candles round the pool and soft lightening real lovely personal touches. The room was large with 3 queen sized beds, adequate kitchen area and bathroom. I went with my sister and daughter in law to celebrate my 60th birthday and had a wicked time .. The strip was just a short walk away from all the bars, restaurants and shops plus a big supermarket .. The only thing that did get on my nerves was the quad bikes and the constant harassment from outside every bar and restaurant but other than that it was lovely. The beach was about 15 mins away and only went a couple of times because the grounds around the pool was so nice and relaxing we stayed there the rest of the time but when we did go we stopped halfway and had a full English breakfast to break up the walk. I am definitely going back there trying for September/October if not will go back this time next year and for 2 weeks not one.
