“Nice stop for evening meal”
Reviewed 10 August 2014 via mobile

A friend who lives locally recommended Rathkeale House for an evening meal. The environment was very nice and spacious. Even though it was a busy Friday evening the staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was good and I look forward to returning when possible.

I found this hotel for Sunday Carvery by accident and boy was I surprised and very very delighted. First the food was of very high standard and portions were enormous. But the biggest surprise was when I got the bill as it was best value meal we ever had. Well done Rathkeale House Keep it up.

At least once every year we drive across Ireland from Dublin to County Kerry. As we are not in a rush to complete the journey, we travel comfortably and enjoy the green and pleasant Irish countryside. Inevitably we stop overnight when we are about half way there. Earlier this week we visited the Rathkeale House Hotel and would strongly recommend it to all and sundry. We were warmly greeted by the most amiable hosts; we received excellent service from every member of staff for whom nothing was too much trouble; we were able to order a most delicious beef sandwich when we first arrived and, later that evening, were served a beautifully cooked dinner. Our room was quiet, clean and well furnished with a most comfortable bed and we were treated to a breakfast the next morning that was splendid.
All in all a very successful 'find'. We shall most certainly be returning.

We have frequently made the run from Dun Laoghaire to Portmagee, breaking our journey at the three hour point somewhere near Limerick. This year the name 'Rathkeale' demanded extra consideration. Then the penny dropped. It was to do with rather mixed publicity about weddings in that community. Yet Tripadvisor had little other than praise for the Rathkeale House Hotel.
Thus at 4pm on Tuesday 15th July we found ourselves in the company of the massively amiable Damien O'Grady, proprietor of the said hotel. And what a treat it all turned out to be! Certainly one of the best run and best served hotels in the Limerick area. Our room was first class; the staff in all departments were friendly and caring and both breakfast and dinner were culinary delights.
Well done Damien. We'll be back - frequently.

We stayed here one night while traveling though. We were pleasantly surprised to find how nice the hotel was after seeing how rough the community looked. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We were glad that there was a restaurant/pub in the hotel because it was an easy solution for supper. The fish and chips were very good and generous.

The rooms in the hotel were good, not fancy but nicely appointed with comfortable beds and nice bathroom. I had a very good sleep! There were no problems with the WiFi which was a pleasant change from some of the locations we stayed in.

Breakfast was a little confusing. We went to the pub area and it seemed to be almost deserted. Apparently breakfast is only set up in one area of the pub. Once staff found us and moved us over everything went smoothly and we had a pleasant breakfast. It was nice to be offered an omelette as a breakfast option.

The town of Rathkeale itself does not appear to have much for attractions. I wouldn't plan this as a destination but it was a great place to stop in our journey.

Stayed one night enroute to the ring of Kerry. Hotel is large, clean and well appointed. Staff were friendly and efficient. Wi Fi worked well in my room (104). Breakfast was good.
Location is just off the main street.
I slept soundly and was surprised when told the next day thatthere was a function with lots of children that night.
