We were recommended this restaurant by the owner of our hotel and it was a real treat. The staff couldn't have been more friendly, even as we muddled through the menu in our shaky Italian and the owner's slightly better English. Later, it turned out that the chef had lived in England for four years and spoke fluently!
The food was just sumptuously tasty, the kind of flavours that you would kill for in England. This is fairly simple stuff, executed brilliantly with flavoursome ingredients.
The decor is dated and I was a bit worried when we walked in but the friendly staff and the delicious food more than compensated for it. The Ledbury this is not but it does what it sets out to do with ease and that's why it gets five stars (or round thingies).
