“Traditional Italian food, full of flavour”
Reviewed 24 June 2013

We were recommended this restaurant by the owner of our hotel and it was a real treat. The staff couldn't have been more friendly, even as we muddled through the menu in our shaky Italian and the owner's slightly better English. Later, it turned out that the chef had lived in England for four years and spoke fluently!

The food was just sumptuously tasty, the kind of flavours that you would kill for in England. This is fairly simple stuff, executed brilliantly with flavoursome ingredients.

The decor is dated and I was a bit worried when we walked in but the friendly staff and the delicious food more than compensated for it. The Ledbury this is not but it does what it sets out to do with ease and that's why it gets five stars (or round thingies).

“delight to palate”
Reviewed 4 April 2013

Our hosts reccommended this restaurant and we found a chef who discussed our prefernces wth us, made suggestions and did not scoff at our wanting to share a portion. We had the most exquisite meat and went back the next day for a pizza the likes of which we didnot taste throughout our 10 day stay in Italy!and the prices are more than reasonable!A gem of arestaurant in a gem of a town...

“tasty pizza tucked away”
Reviewed 20 November 2012

This restaurant is so tucked away from the main part of Piano that you would only really find it on recommendation from a local - which is how we found it courtesy of our B&B hostess. We've never eaten in a restaurant without a menu which was quite novel as you don't know what's on offer or the price of dishes.

We sampled pizza and pasta on two visits during our six night stay in Piano, both occasions they were delicious, with very tasty side salads. The house wine was excellent too. And when the bill arrived it was very reasonable, so no worries there. The second time we went we were the only diners for most of the evening, but put that down to the very violent storm. the remnants of super storm Sandy from USA. At times it felt like the roof was going to blow off!! The only negative would be that they appear to only serve espresso - we asked for tea or regular coffee but no, couldn't do - very odd for a restaurant!

“A hidden treasure”
Reviewed 16 October 2012

Betania is hidden up a back alleyway in Piano di Sorrento, and its low profile pizza takeaway shopfront belies the gem behind. It is popular with the locals, and has no written menu "because the locals know what we have" ! We enjoyed our 1st meal there so much (tender steak, fresh salad and home cooked chips) we went back the next night, and the 3rd night we had takeaway - 2 large pizzas and a big fresh mixed salad for a very reasonable price. Fresh food, good service, warm ambience - highly recommended.
