“Fantastic Honeymoon”
Reviewed 28 October 2012

We found thw Nastro Azzurro wonderful, there was a great welcome when we arrived at 10pm. Friendly staff, a grass of bubbly and a large plate of food and bottle of red and white on th table for us. This was our honeymoon so we also found a bottle of champagne in our room with a note of congratulations. We payed extra to stay in the Occhio Marino, the room was lovely, a good size, very comfortable bed, TV, coffee machine and bottled water in the fridge every day. Also a nice large bathroom and a view of the sea. The rooms were very clean and were cleaned everyday and new towels brought every day. Breakfast was served in the dining room and there was great selection of foods, including continental and engish breakfast options also lots of fruit. The freshley squeshed orange juice was a great start to the day. aiter were friendly and could not do enough to help. Lunch was served in the pool bar, plenty of place to sit in the shade and wonderful food, choice of salad pasta, pizza or bbq foods. Evening food was also wonderful, all were greeted by Agelo on the door and seated then a menu presented and drinks orders brought to you, a great selection of food and all tasted good. One night was a grand buffet this was also wonderful. As we were staying in the Occhio Marino we were also given free night in the al a carte restaurant, this was a lovely night, very good service and food was cooked fresh in front of you.
We went with thompsons and enjoyed the trip to vesuvio and Hercalaneum and very much reccommend the almafi drive. Shuttle bus was very convenient,

I am not going to repeat what everyone else has said but must say that the best feature of this lovely hotel is its incredible staff. Faultless. We will definitely be going again! The food was pretty good, even for me as a fussy vegetarian and the drinks were extremely good. Two things we really appreciated were the Sorrento walkabout with Alessandro and the visit to a local olive farm with Clementine. We never tired of the spectacular views from the hotel and in particular from the Sunset Bar. All in all it was a wonderful holiday.

Room Tip: We were a bit disappointed to be in the Occhio Marina as would have preferred a more modern room. H...

We have just returned from this hotel in Italy and for us it was one of the best we have ever stayed in. From the moment we arrived the welcome was excellent and the smiling efficient staff got our holiday off to a good start. Our room overlooked the bay of Naples and the beautiful mountains. We saw the sun rise each morning room 228 is a good choice. Our room was modern and had everything you could want in it.There is not a charge for the safe and they even supply the pool towels if you need them free of charge. You pay a small local tax on departure, 21 euros for 2 people 7 nights. Our hotel was all inclusive and couples. I do not eat meat and the choices were excellent from breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, evening meal. It seemed odd not to pay for any drinks. international drinks were included. Some of the trips were excellent. Capri is a must with the boat trip surrounding the island and chair lift (these were worth the extra cost) Hotel staff Antonio, Carmela, Daniel (bar) and all the other staff were amazing. Attending to everyone with a smile and willing to help. We met lots of lovely people. For me I came away 1 week after personal family sadness and it was the best thing to do as the holiday was already booked.
On a negative note and Thomson are aware of this problem. We departed from our hotel around 8 a.m and headed for the airport. it took around 1 hour 20 mins. when you get there you have to stay with your coach until they let you proceed towards the terminals. we sat there for ages along with other coaches. our flight was 11.25 a.m it was now 10.45 and still not at check-in. we eventually went through to join the queues, it was very busy to check-in, then find security, passport control, then departures. we were running with no time in the departure lounge. we like all the other passengers just about made our flight. Some people were sitting in the wrong seats. Thomson know about this problem as the rep told us and also the air hostesses. so why aren't Thomson addressing this? they must allow more time to address this problem as Naples is not a big airport. We felt so stressed after such a lovely holiday.
We would say it is 5* quality at the Grand Hotel Nastro Azzuro.
Thank you to my husband for encouraging me to go despite everything else. We will return to Italy next year.

Room Tip: Room 228 2nd floor is a good choice. generally if you are at the front of the hotel you will see the...

I cant really say any more than the other reviews about this hotel, only what we liked the best!! and that was the views from the rooftop bar at sunset with a cocktail in your hand sat on the really comfy loveseat chairs, breakfast outdoors on the patio with the sea and mountain views, the friendliness of the staff and the way they joined in with the guests dancing, the pool man jumped in and joined in for the aqua fit classes in the pool, the freshly baked pizzas from the proper pizza oven, good location for local buses to take you to amalfi, positano etc, modern contemporary decor in the great rooms, we were in the occhio marino block all in all a great place with great staff, if i had to ask for an improvement it would be to include some more local italian dishes for main courses as its steered towards the brits a bit on this front.

Room Tip: 1432 in occio marino is a corner room with huge patio, view of pool and mountainside

We arrived after 21.30 and were very impressed when, after a very quick check-in, we were shown to the magnificent dining room, where full service awaited us.
A buffet table groaning with appetisers, breads, salads, vegetables, fruit and dessserts etc. was just the supporting act for the main item.
Dedicated staff gave very professional attention to all and soon we had wine, water and beer to drink while we chose our meal from that evening's menu. Fabulous!
During dinner, our luggage had been taken to our room, which was spotless and very stylish.
We went back down to enjoy the live entertainment and a huge variety of drinks.
What a start to a holiday!! Like Sonia and Colin we knew this was something special.
It did indeed just get better and better.
The hotel, staff, food and drink are simply exemplary. Your happiness and satisfaction are paramount. Nothing is too much bother for anyone:- reception, dining, bar or housekeeping staff.
There was live entertainment, of a very high standard every evening, so if you like to dance or just listen, this is for you.
The greatest compliment I can pay is to say that after two perfect weeks we didn't want to leave, but as the hotel was still fully booked, I had no choice.
Special thanks to Carmine, Angelo, Clementine, Antonio, Alessandro, Daniel and Salvatore and to all the good friends we made, you know who you are.
The diet has begun. Ciao!

Room Tip: There is a wide variety of rooms and everyone we talked to loved theirs. Ours was a standard double...

We have had a wonderful holiday at this exceptional hotel. All the staff were extremely helpful, courteous and attentive. The food was superb and we really enjoyed the special gala nights in the restaurant where the staff worked really hard to create a particular theme. The entertainment and daytime activities programme were excellent. The resident singers D'nA were really good and we particularly enjoyed the cocktail making organised by Clementine. The pizzas made at the poolside bar at lunchtime were extremely good. The all inclusive package is excellent with branded drinks and cocktails.

Just returned from a wonderful visit to this lovely Hotel set in the hills above Sorrento between the Bay of Naples and the Gulf of Salerno affording views from all areas of the Hotel over mountains and the sea.
I’m not going to go on and on about how much we enjoyed our stay during our week there only to emphasise the major highlights of our trip that were firstly the staff, all of which were excellent friendly courteous and smiling no matter what time of day.
Our accommodation we were in the annex room 424 small balcony that if you looked through the trees a view of the Sea was just possible, these rooms have not been modernised but had all the facilities we needed a large four poster bed, shower above bath, TV and Lavazza coffee machine for the morning espresso always clean and cool with lots of room to move around in and the decor just seemed to suit the style of the building.
All the food we had during our stay was very tasty and well presented and served by attentive smiling staff, breakfast was served in the main restaurant or on the terrace lovely on a bright sunny morning taking in the views.
Lunch served by the pool with fantastic Pizzas overseen by Carmine cooked freshly almost to order plus barbecue, salads, fish meats and sweets, only one small niggle hot food on counter could have been kept warmer if I’m honest no problems just a personal preference generally all tasty with good variety.
Evening meals were served in the main Restaurant again great choice probably too much but being a Yorkshire man you can’t have too much choice, four courses Anti Pasta, Secondo, Main course and Sweets so much good food now on diet and exercise routine at home but the memories remain of how much we enjoyed our food.
Entertainment was fine though I think more varied entertainment would add to the evening’s pleasure and more participation and interaction with the guest may bring the evenings to life, livening the atmosphere up a lot. All the drinks served in all areas were good Peroni on draft wine as and when you wanted cocktails made to order good variety.
This Hotel is well placed to explore the local attractions the Amalfi drive, Sorrento, Pompeii Herculaneum and Naples we used the free Hotel bus to visit Sorrento also went on the little train from the Hotel to see the Sunset over Capri but the best trip was the Amalfi drive breathtaking scenery views to die for and helpful informative guides and driver, you can do it yourself but is it worth the hassle when your only there for one week of relaxation and fun.
This is our second visit to this Hotel the first being a number of years ago when it wasn’t All Inclusive it has improved with time and no doubt the next time we visit more alterations and improvements will have taken place to raise the standards even higher but there will still remain some staff who we met on our first visit and who along with all members of staff made our visit this time so special well done the Grand Hotel Nastro Azzurro & Occhio Marino Resort.

Room Tip: Rooms in Annex seem to be quieter.
