“Still Our Favourite Holiday”
Reviewed 16 May 2014

Visited The Nastro Azzurro last year but have only just got around to writing this review (new ish to trip advisor)!

We loved our stay at this hotel. Everything from start to finish was great. The service was excellent from both the reps and the hotel staff, all of which were extremely helpful. The hotel itself is split up into different blocks and i think actually staying in the main hotel the rooms are a bit newer and nicer overall. We were not in the main hotel block but this was not a big deal. The Room was still nice but maybe a little dated however the rest of the hotel made up for this. We were also situated nearer the pool area which is a great size and has a fab bar area and views.

We spent half of our holidays by the pool and like most places the earlier you get up the better place you get by the pool although we didn't find that a massive problem as there was always space available. The pool is clean and everything is fresh and service prompt.

All inclusive holidays can be a bit sketchy but the food here we thought was amazing. We loved breakfast, lunch by the pool and dinner. Plenty of choice and not the same choices each day which was refreshing compared to other all inc. places we have visited.

Having fresh stone baked pizzas by the pool was a highlight for me! (love a pizza).

The hotel also offers a variety of activities going on all the time or if you fancy a chill out away from the pool area you wont be hard pressed to find comfortable seating in the gardens or try out the hot tubs.

Excursions are planned through the hotel and are not badly priced. We decided on the day trip to mount Vesuvius in the morning and Pompeii in the afternoon. This was a fantastic day but if your going in the height of summer it is VERY hot and hard work climbing up a mountain and such but will worth it.

We also explored on our own the city of Sorrento which is a short bus drive away which the hotel put on multiple times a day (for free) and then navigated our way to the Isle of Capri which was beautiful but again a steep climb to reach the central town so be prepared.

I would advise eating at least once in Sorrento Restaurants and if you ate one meal you should try Ristorante 'O Parrucchiano La Favorita an amazing little gem which is cheap and has a fantastic setting. Check out trip advisor for more on it

The evening entertainment at the hotel is great, we ate by candlelight near the pool a couple of times which was lovely and also the evening entertainment is fun and varied but if like me you prefer to watch from afar then enjoy great cocktails by the bar.

Overall this was an amazing holiday at a great destination accompanied by well run and rightfully highly sort after hotel. We want to come back next year!

Room Tip: Stay in the main hotel if you can as the rooms are more modern

Booked the Nastro Azzurro for our 10 night honeymoon via Thomson's and upgraded the room at the time of booking to the Occhio Marino complex. Arrived at a very busy Naples airport on 25th April as all UK flights seem to have come in at the same time, this causing a bit of confusion with distribution of coach allocation and transfers. Once on coach, transfer was lengthy (1.5 - 2 hours) due to time of day and amount of traffic. Arrived at hotel about lunchtime, check in was a bit of a muddle as there were so many people for the staff to deal with all at once. Allocated room 414, which as it was in the Occhio complex, was a 1 minute walk from the main building through the gardens etc. Once we got to the room, the hotel had provided a bottle of fizz and had hung a sign on the door to suggest we were 'just married'. The view from the ground floor balcony was scenic, looking south towards the Amalfi Coast. Room was clean and tidy and of a decent size. There was a queen size 4 poster bed, Tea & coffee facility and a TV/DVD player which you could borrow dvds if required. Each morning we had left the room, the maids came in to make up the bed etc and when we returned, would find a different towel creature on our bed, very clever !!.
Unfortunately, the weather was not the best or as we had anticipated as it rained most days we were there, the walk between the complexes could be a wet one if you don't have a coat or a umbrella.
The hotel is spread over large beautiful grounds with plenty of seating areas throughout the garden areas. There is a covered outside jacuzzi suite in the gardens, a outdoor unheated swimming pool with a covered food area and bar used throughout the day (weather permitting).
The food and hospitality was considered the best quality we have ever had whilst being on a holiday, let alone a honeymoon. We felt we were made welcome by all of the staff who ensured you had what you wanted at all times. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, and above all polite throughout our stay. Evening dinner was waiter service, choosing from a vast and varied menu each night with a choice of having the fresh buffet also. Food was delivered hot and cooked to order. It was often to difficult to choose your meal, as everything sounded and looked great. Be warned, you will put on weight at this resort !!
Drinks and dinner or at the bars were of a good quality with brand names available at no extra cost. Evening entertainment offered by the resident musical duo - The Boundios was of a very high quality and the best we have encountered in a hotel scenario. Themed nights meant that each night was different (EG - Hollywood Night, Love night etc)
In summary, we had the best time ever with the best food ever and some of the best hospitality we have encountered ever. Thanks to all of the staff especially Carmine, Luigi, Johnny who made our honeymoon so memorable - We shall return !!!

Now what can I say but wow.
From the moment of arrival to the very last moments of our stay we were spoilt and so well looked after.
On entering our room we were greeted with our towels on the bed which had the origami treatment. They were fashioned into two swans facing each other both scattered with petals, on our table they had placed a bottle of presecco in an ice bucket ready for our arrival. All this because it was our honeymoon. I was not expecting anything and this made the stay unforgettable. Our room was cleaned every day by one of the cheeriest room attendants I've ever met.

The staff at the bar and in the restaurant looked after us so well and became friends with several who welcomed us every time we entered the room.

Everyone from maitre d angelo, head of the bar carmine to matteo, Vincenzo, Antonio, giovani, chiarra, Christian, fabio, I could go on all night as everyone looked after us so well each day and night.
I wish I could name all but this hotel is the luckiest to have such a great team to look after its residents.

The food was amazing, from breakfast, lunch and evening meal was of the highest standard.
At breakfast there was cooked foods for the die hard English people and cold items for those that prefer the continental brekkie.
There was also a chef at the ready to cook fried and poached eggs to order, also omelettes were available as we're American style pancakes.

The lunch was a light buffet affair by the pool bar but on occasion it was served in the restaurant where a much bigger selection was on offer.

Evening meals were something else.
The buffet was extensive and also the waiters handed us a menu from which we could choose from too. These menus changed every day as did the buffet selections.
The cakes were to die for and on a number of occasions there what at first appeared to be a table decoration which were out of this world. One looked like a wedding type cake and on Italian night it looked like a scene which included Vesuvius and a sea scape. I first thought they were decorations but on later information they were cakes.
The chefs deserve more appreciation from the guests for what they provided us each day.
If you also had special dietary requirements the waiting staff and chefs went out of their way to accommodate and cooked special dishes for those that required because of their needs.

As you can see I was blown away by our stay here and we will most definatly be staying again.

As I say look after the staff and they look after you.

The best holiday to date

A luxurious hotel in a quiet location in the hills above Sorrento. Note there are two shuttle buses to take you into Sorrento through the day and early evening. The food is excellent, the singers/entertainment are fantastic. The hotel staff are the best I have ever encountered on all my holidays. All inclusive is for everyone so no wearing bands on your wrist, also the range of drinks and cocktails is beyond belief and I think you would struggle to sample all the cocktails in a one or two week holiday without ending up Pickled. I have been to this resort now twice and I would definitely go again. This is real first class service including the waiters serving drinks at the pool in tuxedos etc etc. Fresh made pizzas, grilled fish, various meats and pastas etc etc etc served at the pool every day weather permitting. The grounds are very nice and also contain shaded relaxing areas and about 4 Jacuzzis too. The Thompson daytime activities rep was virtually invisible, the first time she spoke to us was day 5, most people we spoke to thought that she thought she was on holiday too. The only downer other than the weather during our stay was the wifi was being repaired when we arrived and was still being repaired when we left, Italian repair men obviously can’t be rushed!!

Room Tip: Occhio Marino for quieter and more luxurious rooms, main building for closeness to restaurant and ba...

Me and my wife stayed at the Grand Hotel Nastro Azzurro at Easter 2014 and we had a wonderfull holiday from beginning to end. The Hotel is up high on a mountain but the courtesy bus is available daily at various times and the drivers are very kind and helpfull. The staff at the hotel were all excellent and they could not do enough to ensure that our stay was enjoyable and that we were always happy. The food was first class and we could not find fault with anything the hotel had to offer. The views from the Hotel were superb and i would recommed it to anyone wanting a relaxing break in a wonderfull hotel.

Situated up in the mountains about 15 mins drive from Sorrento this hotel, made up of two seperate buildings, has fabulous views of the mountains and the sea below. There are courtesy buses that run several times a day into the beautiful town of Sorrento. The hotel is set in attractive tiered, grassy, well maintained grounds with plenty of seating and sunbeds and a fabulous pool area. The staff are very friendly, great fun and extremely efficient and do everything they can to ensure you have a great time. The food is delicious and plentiful and there is a well stocked cocktail bar where there is music and dancing in the evenings. The rooms are modern, comfortable and clean with numerous views to choose from. Check out the Thomson photo gallery to get the full picture. There's nothing I can add that hasn't already been said apart from that we've been there twice and love it and can't wait to go back.
