Just returned from this holiday absolutely fabulous , relaxed, spotlessly clean , staff very friendly,
got a few bites but it has huge gardens, the hot tubs are in the garden. Menu at evening meal they even encourage you to order more than one starter or main course.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a superior room in the main hotel well worth it.

We have just returned from a fortnight's stay at the Grand Hotel Nastro Azzurro. We had the most wonderful time. The hotel staff were terrific - every single one of them - from the hotel porter to the hotel manager. The hotel ran with seamless efficiency and nothing was too much trouble. We thoroughly enjoyed all the hotel activities including the special evenings in the restaurant, the Italian lessons given by the hotel manager, and the activities arranged by Jess. Entertainment was provided mainly by the excellent Harry and Ellie who, being very talented musicians, added to the chilled-out atmosphere of the hotel. On a couple of occasions they were joined by Gio who was magnificent! We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: The rooms in the main hotel are more modern than those in the Occhio Marino building which are more...

We arrived 22nd August and stayed for 1 week. The whole holiday from start to finish was amazing. Day 1. We attended the welcome meeting and received a warm welcome from Nic our rep, he is a friendly fun guy and I thought he handled the large audience very well. After the meeting it's normal they take the new arrivals into Sorrento and show you around. During the trip you get to sample some Italian delights and it gives you some bearings for the rest of your stay. This is free and definitely a nice touch. The trips that Thompson's offer are expensive in my opinion (nothing to do with hotel or Thompson staff) I'm sure they are great though and offer a good experience. However we decided beforehand that we would do the trips ourselves. We wanted to experience the local culture and thought this would be fun. I will share with you what we did and hopefully this will assist you. Day 2 we got the hotel courtesy bus at 8am into Sorrento and a short stroll down the road you reach the train station. We bought tickets to take us to Pompeii and this cost around £4 each. You are on the train for around 25 minutes and it's a good experience. We travelled hottest/busiest time of the year and absolutely fine and always got a seat. When we arrived at Pompeii (drops you at door) we paid €20 euros each and this was for Pompeii and Herculaneum and another couple of places (think it was €10 each if you just did Pompeii) We spent around 4 hours at Pompeii which was great, although hard work in the heat. Wear comfy shoes and a hat and high sun screen! We then jumped back on train and went a few stops further and got to Herculaneum, you then have a bit of a straight walk to it (about 10-15 min) or you can get a shuttle bus at the station entrance for a cost. I did not feel unsafe at any point and lots of tourists around throughout. Both were brilliant however I enjoyed Herculaneum more. Day 3 We got the Sita bus for a couple of euros and did the Amalfi drive and visited Amalfi and then ravello (you can get a bus ticket that allows you to hop on and off) Both are beautiful places and I fell in love with Ravello. Day 4 we visited Positano using the Sita bus and spent the morning on the beach and at lunch time we got another bus up to monterpertusa which is the highest point and visited a gorgeous restaurant called la tagliata. We did a tasting lunch with drinks and cost €50 for the two of us and it was worth every penny. Day 5 We visited Capri by local ferry SNAV and this cost €36 each return (believe this was cheapest option) we had a walk round Capri port and beach and then headed to the town and had lunch in a place called la campannia. Lasagna and sea bream was to die for and cost around €55 for the two of us. We then jumped on a local bus to ana Capri and did a chair lift up to the highest point (cost €10 euro each return) This was great and you get some good scenic pics. Day 6 I booked a trip to Mount Vesuvius, you make your own way to Pompeii on the train and get on a shuttle bus and then you swap over to a 4x4 truck and this takes you on a bumpy ride up the mountain. You get dropped off about 15 minutes before and climb the rest of this yourself. Not too difficult though and I did in a pair of flip flops! after we were driven to a beautiful vineyard at the foot of Vesuvius and had a tour around the vineyard and a meal and tasted 6 delicious wines. I booked this the night before online with a great company called Vesuviou tour.com. With the booking fee it cost around £80 for the both of us! The day was amazing and you can even arrange to ship a case/cases of the wine you like back home. We bought 4 bottles and luckily don't go over our baggage allowance. Day 7 we relaxed at our beautiful hotel. Now let me tell you about the hotel. On arrival at 10.30pm there was a dinner waiting for us with a bottle of red and white wine. The Assistant manager introduces himself and tells you what you need to know (lovely guy) Breakfast and lunch is Buffett service however you still get the nice touches being shown to your table and drinks being served to you etc. Evening meal is served to you and there is a different menu each night and everything we had was delicious. They cater for different dietary requirements also and nothing is too much trouble. you are greeted into the restaurant by Angelo the head waiter and he does an exceptional job. A hand kiss for the lady and a hand shake for the men! The other restaurant and bar staff were great too and the guy that cooks the eggs was lovely and made us delicious poached eggs and omelettes and fried eggs and pancakes for breakfast! The entertainment was very good and the musical duo are brilliant. The lady has an operatic voice. I normally hate evening entertainment however they seem to have a good balance/approach with it here. The sun set bar is great and lovely to visit pre dinner, they will make you cocktails and serve branded alcohol and prossecco (in all bars) Also I have never stayed anywhere that offers you the whole bottle upon ordering a drink! wine list in restaurant is great too and a good selection within the all inclusive. the hotel gardens are beautiful and the decking area which has hot tubs is gorgeous. The pool is lovely (apparently it's a bit cold but I didn't go in) and there is also a nice patio area on roof you can sit which has lovely views and not many people sit here, at one point we had the whole of it to ourselves. On our final morning I asked a lovely lady on reception if by any chance she had an English newspaper (you normally pre order day before) She arranged for someone to go and get me one, even though I told her not to worry. Now that's service! My only regret is that we didn't book this hotel for longer. Because of the amount of sightseeing we did sadly we didn't make as much use as I would have liked to. However it was a touch of luxury to return to after a long day. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Thank you Nastro Azzuro and keep up the great work! This is down to the great management and staff team, that go above and beyond to ensure you have a wonderful holiday. ps take some bug spray and I also recommend the lonely planet guide book as this was our bible for the week :-) x

What a brilliant hotel. We stayed for a week on an all in inclusive with Thomson. As an aside, we thought the Thomson reps/organisation was great.

Great food. Wonderfully helpful and attentive staff. The entertainment in the evening from Harry & Ellie was great- far better than the X factor!

The rooms were very comfortable and clean. No complaints at all.

The hotel is a bit out of town so not really sensible to try walking in on busy roads. However the hotel organises an excellent and free shuttle bus service.

All great. Do visit

It's all been said already this place is fantastic, so let me try to call out a few things worthy of a mention.
Service, the best I have seen on a package holiday. Consistent across all the team.
Drinks, beer been changed this year to Raffo, but still a Peroni brand. Branded spirits, cocktails are good, some pre mixed. Order some of the less popular and you will get the real deal. Although, pop into sorrento for some of the best cocktails, like bar Fauno for a Long Island Iced Tea, class.
Room, we prefer rooms in the main building for decor, space and easy access to main restaurant and entertainment at night.
Entertainment, not the best, but it's what you make of it. One night involved a traditional dance troupe. Thought it was going to be quite boring, but due to getting people involved was a great laugh.
Pool, very clean. Need a bed or parasol moved, Roberto does that for you. Yes people queue at 9am to get their preferred spots, but having stayed here in July and August, have never seen a guest stuck for a sunbed at poolside.
Food, excellent. Dont go here looking for a fantastic full English breakfast, but check out the choice and quality of whats on offer. Lunch is the best, fresh pizza, pasta, fish, grilled meats, salads and about 10 different ice creams. Dinner is a wee bit more formal, gents not allowed to wear shorts.
Excursions, Thomsons expensive but give you good ideas of what you can do. Get courtesy bus into Sorrento and you can do it all from there. We shared a private hire drive with another couple to do Amalfi Drive, recommended. We got the train to Pompeii, saved about 80 euros compared to Thomson prices.

On basis of food, service, hotel location we will go back definitely. Would I recommend it, definitely.

Room Tip: Stay in main building.

This is our Second time at Nastro Azzuro and we arrived to find a Special returners card and bottle in our room. We were again so impressed with the Manager and his team for going out of their way to make is such a memorable Holiday from begining to end. The food is superb, plenty of variety, so well presented and served proffessionaly, we enjoyed every meal and thought the wine and drinks choices where extensive with plenty of branded spirits . The special theme evenings are wonderful the staff put so much extra work into the Black & White, Red Love and Pool Evenings.
Angelo Carmen and all of the staff go out of their way to please ! Anything you ask for is no trouble at all !
We loved Ellie & Harry and we were over the moon when we knew they came back for this year during our 2 week stay, We thought all of the music they played was Brilliant, so much thought and hard work went into each evening and we enjoyed the enthusiasm they both had for the work they do. The Laser Show was fabulous, thanks to them both for our Anniversary dedication on the last evening and thanks to Nastro for our Anniversary treat.
Nic our rep was helpful and informative ,Jess was good at getting us all up to dance and join in with the staff . The staff made time to come out and dance and join in.The management Team around each day to chat and continually asking was everything OK. The rooms cleaned daily, Linen looked after and you only needed to ask the maid and she would do anything for you .Thanks to all of the backroom staff that you don't often see as together the Nastro Azzuro have a wonderful hard working dedicated team making sure your Holiday is one to remember.

I liked the thought of living the 'high life' for a week...and after reading the reviews and being advised my a couple we met at Corfu last year then we thought we would pay £1500 each and 'go for it'!!

Reality:- The trip from the airport was 'long' the quality of the coach was 'poor' (ripped seating...generally tatty!). Leading up to the hotel I thought we were in a war zone....although when we 'finally' go to the hotel it was a welcoming site. The staff were very friendly and made a fuss of everyone.

We were in the main hotel (the 3rd floor).....it was clean, not very big and only a partial shower screen meaning that the floor got very wet every time we had a shower (twice a day!!).

The dining area is nice the quality of the food is OK.......its NOT 5 star...........if you want that then you have to pay for it as we did in the only Mitchelin star restaurant in Sorrento .......but it was out of this world!!.

We paid 95 Euros (each) for a boat trip around the amalfi coast......it was lovely...there was only 12 on the boat and the views were fantastic.....its a long day........ we set sail at 10am and got back around 8 pm (make sure you get yourself a packed lunch as you only get one cheese and tomato sandwich along with a drink for your lunch).

The pool area is clean and there is plenty of sunbeds but you always get the people who insist on reserving 'their' bed in the same position..........BORING!!!! The pool is very cold but that's what you need after frying on the sun bed.....:)

The garden area is lovely and very relaxing especially if you simply 'relax' without the poolside rumblings.

The entertainment is very limited during the day .....and Jess (Thomson rep) seemed to be very selective in who she asked to participate in the 'limited' fun!

The entertainment in the evening is performed by a lovely young couple who are clearly very talented - you must ensure you experience the laser show, it was exceptional.

We met some lovely people at the hotel and there were an awful lot of people who had been to this place several times before......which is what they clearly enjoy.......not for me though....

In summary - A clean hotel with very friendly staff but not as good as I expected - 6.5/10.

Quality is always 'subjective' ........PS - Naples airport was fine and very organised - its controlled by the military.......

Room Tip: Go for a minimum of a partial sea view and request 3rd floor to enhance the views.
