“Clean room and great food”
Reviewed 3 August 2012

This hotel is a jewel if you're visiting the Almalfi Coast. There are very few tourists in this area and it's very easy to get anywhere you want in the area. The food downstairs at the restaurant was fantastic; some of the best we've had in all of Italy.

We booked a double room with air con, an orthopaedic bed, wifi and a minibar. When we arrived we were shown to a room that had no room number (109) and was behind a curtain off the reception, overlooking the main internal courtyard. That wasn’t the problem per se- it was the fact it didn’t have air con, wifi or a fridge!
Once we complained and were shown to the room we believe we had actually reserved, things were fine, but it didn’t start our holiday on a good footing.
We cannot comment on the food as we refused to pay anymore at the hotel than we had to, and ate at the excellent and cheap pizza restaurant next door.

The location is excellent- 10 min to the train station and a great service between Napoli and Sorrento. The piazza in Piano is buzzing and sells excellent gelato.

Staff were very helpful and friendly, despite the request of room change. We just wish that they didn’t try to scam us by giving us an inferior room at the beginning.

Room Tip: Avoid room 109!!

Comfortable accommodation with plenty of space with a balcony overlooking the street. Staff were helpful and full of advice for transportation and shopping. The restauarant was truly excellent - we had a fantastic dinner cooked by the cooking school which was one of the best meals we had in Italy. Breakfast was good too and we were generally very happy with our choice.

Room Tip: A balcony room facing the sea would be great.

We really enjoyed our stay here. It started off rough as we left the train station we went down the wrong street and probaly walked the whole town of Piano di Sorrento before we finally found the hotel, then we went up to the check-in on the second floor above the restaurant, and rang the bell for 20 minutes to a half hour before my wife saw someone downstairs cleaning in the lobby/entry area, who told us to go to the restaurant after that everything was wonderful. The two women, one in the morning for breakfast and the other which was there in the afternoon were absolutely great, very friendly and helpful. I loved the breakfast, but I am more daring and will try just about anything where my family is a little more careful and will not try something they don't recognize. Great location by the sea, a little trek to the train station even with the correct directions, but only two stops to Sorrento. If we had time we would of liked to joined the cooking school for at least one day.

Great atmosphere, clean and stylish. Spacious room and a huge bathroom. Be sure to request a balcony room which provides a view of the sea in the distance. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, relaxed attitude with a smile! The layout of the building is fantastic with a few open areas were guests can read, relax, or sip wine, including a spacious lounge and a cozy terrace. Breakfast was delicious and a restaurant next door provided decent and very affordable food for lunch/dinner. Wireless internet worked flawlessly. This was a great launch pad for day trips along the Amalfi coast or private boat tour to Capri and surrounds. Grocery store also available right on the corner. Be sure to catch the sunset over the Mediterranean Sea from the lookout about a 10-15 minute walk west of the hotel. The only drawback was the busy street running along the front of the hotel. Lots of loud motor bikes made it noisy at times. Otherwise a delightful stay.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is in a great location just outside of Sorrento and within a few minutes walk to the coast and several restaurants and bars with great views of the sea. All of the staff were very friendly and welcoming. They also arranged for our day boat excursion to the island of Capri, which was amazing. My only issue was that the air conditioning seemed to not be working in our room. Other than that, we loved it and would definitely stay again.

Had a great few days staying here. Very helpful staff, and nothing was too much trouble. A must-do is to go on the tour that they organise with Francesco (El Capitano!) to Capri. Fantastic day, luxurious boat and so much fun. Boat trip alone was worth it, Capri was a bonus. Hotel is very quite and comfortable, breakfast is fantastic. Unfortunately missed out on the Cooking School, but perhaps next time... Met other really nice people staying at the hotel, who we will keep in touch with.
