“Great view etc but not peaceful!”
Reviewed 11 August 2012

We stayed here for 5 nights in July. I agree with the bulk of the comments in previous posts; the view is amazing, food good, owners very friendly, rooms spacious and clean, but it is not peaceful, at least at this time of year. There is a dog near by who barks a lot (the owners also have a dog who sometimes 'replies' but he isn't really the problem), when traffic goes by the house it is loud (the noise seems to bounce off the wall on the other side of the road) and there is some sort of club/venue just up the hill which had events on for two of the nights. If you could have the windows and shutters closed it would reduce the noise, but when we stayed it was too warm to do this and there is no AC. If noise does not bother you, or you go at a cooler time of the year, it may not be a problem.

Room Tip: The website gives accurate information, La Camellia is a suite with a wonderful view, no balcony.

This is a fabulous address that strikes the perfect balance between a warm, family-based welcome, a spectacular yet peaceful setting, a perfectly affordable price, and aesthetically appealing yet cosy furnishing and interior decoration. Ideally situated between the must-see sights (Pompei and Herculanum, Capri, Sorrente itself and the Amalfi Coast villages), it lies just a few minutes' walk up from a bus-stop with the public service that will take you anywhere you want to go in the region. There's a castle with beautiful grounds open to the public during the daytime just behind, as well as a swimming pool to which you guests can enjoy access at a special rate. Varied and tasty breakfasts, plus home-made evening meals on request, made with garden-fresh produce. Easy Jet flights down to Naples and then either a pick-up service or the bus, and you'll find yourself in just the right spot for a varied and delightful short break - or a longer stay if you possibly can!

Room Tip: All five are great, but a sea view is the ultimate!

In September we stayed here for 8 nights. This agriturismo is run by the Persico family. Salvatore is the most friendly host and guide I have ever encountered. Evening dinners were delicious and were prepared by Salvatore's brother Angelo: 3 courses including their own bottled wine, everything came "fresh" from the garden (you have to try their own-made lemon marmalade....mmmm!). Rooms were very tidy (thanks to Salvatore's mum) and spatious: ours had a lovely view over the bay of Naples. The environment is very quiet and Piano di Sorrento is an excellent base for visiting this area: the lovely Amalfi coast, Ravello, Naples, Pompei and the Vesuvius, the isle of Capri, etc are places you realmy need to visit. Leave your car at the hotel: on walking distance you can take the bus and then take other public transport (train, boat) very easily. If you want to experience the real italian "stuff" (great food and wine, lovely environment and Italian hospitality), you definitley need to stay here. Salvatore, thanks again for the lovely stay ! Big hugs from all of us, Dave (Belgium)

We stayed for 11 days in September 2011 in this very nice place, and we can highly recommend it as a hub for exploring the Sorrentina peninsula and Amalfitana coastline!
Very welcoming and family atmosphere.
The Persico family are all very friendly and helpful people: Salvatore is a perfect host and guide and is allways prepared to help; his brother Angelo is the cook that prepares good evening meals with locally grown products... Their mum and dad operate more silently in the background and run their farm and household…
Very nice, spatious and clean rooms (ours had a balcony and view over the bay!) with en suite bathroom.
Don’t bring or drive large cars in this part of the country: most roads are very narrow, winding and steep! A small (rental) car or scooter is the best option!

Stayed here for 8 days and found it absolutely lovely!

With charming owners and great service, the agriturismo was a great place to call home for our stay. We had a car and found the location to be great - quick access to the Amalfi coast, right by Sorrento, a nice drive to Vesuvius/Pompeii... very nicely situated.

Our room was beautiful - very clean and exceptionally spacious. Once we entered our room, we had a little hallway with two doors - one leading to our room, and the other to our private bathroom. From our bedroom window which had a view of the bay, we could see the fireworks in Sorrento at night ... what a great treat! Yes, the roosters, chickens and dogs were noisy - especially in the mornings - but as long as you close up the window shutters, it's not really an issue.

Aside from daily breakfasts, we ate dinner twice here and found the meals to be very nice, and quite a good value for the money (several course meal, desert, wine and limoncello).

Overall, we'd definitely recommend this spot!

Room Tip: Ask for the top floor room facing the water.

We stayed here for a week and throughout this time can only find good things to say about L’Antico Casale.
First, it was perfectly situated for any visit to this area. Midway between Sorrento and Positano and within easy reach of Amalfi, Ravello, Pompeii and even Naples. Park the car and get around by bus, boat or train.
Second, it was run by the wonderfully welcoming Persico family with Salvatore being the host and his brother, Angelo doing most of the cooking.
Third, the accommodation was first-rate in this recently renovated building. The room was spotless as was the en-suite bathroom and we had a magnificent view over the Bay of Naples from our balcony from where we could also see the many lemon and olive trees that cover the property.
Fourth, the food was excellent thanks to most of the ingredients being freshly sourced from the Persico family’s land and the skilful hand of Angelo at the stove.
Thank you Salvatore for making our stay a truly memorable one.

Room Tip: Not all rooms have balconies. If this is your preference, please book early
