Probably the nicest most friendly staff we encountered in our whole Italy trip. The staff at this hotel is first class, they don't have enough stars to describe their attitude.
I would actually go as far as to say that the whole village of Moneglia was extremely warm and friendly.

The hotel has a great location across the street from the beach (sandy beach actually) and close to all the restaurants.. The village is also perfect for visiting Cinque Terre as well as Portofino.

The rooms and common areas were very clean and the breakfast had a good variety.

Parking is off the premisses (not too far off) at a small enclosed garage that costs 10€ a day. The garage is pretty small but we never had issues finding a spot.

Not sure why this hotel has 3 stars, it is much better than a lot of the 4 star hotels we stayed in in Italy.

A good value hotel, a spacious well appointed room and a generally 'cared-for' feel to the place. Located facing the promenade area but not directly on the seafront as there is a road and an elevated road/promenade between the hotel and the shore. However, it's a very good location in the centre of things and close to two or three very good restaurants such as Gli Amici, Tender and Gian Maria. The room we had was to the rear of the hotel on the top floor and puzzlingly signposted "for authorized personnel only". The balcony area was spacious with a table, chairs and two tired sun loungers without upholstery. Plenty of space in the room including a big screen TV but no English channels so your Italian or German had better be good! Very well appointed bathroom and everything sparkling clean. Hotel facilities are very good and plenty of choice at the breakfast buffet - including fresh fruit. It is a bit noisy at the moment as there is work being done on the promenade, on a building to the rear of the hotel and to landscaping close to the rear of the hotel - morning on your balcony is not as tranquil as you might wish. Check with the owners as to how long this is due to go if you think it might bother you - it didn't bother us as the advantages of the hotel easily outweighed the disadvantages.

Room Tip: There are a lot of rooms with little or no view so be specific about what you want to see when you l...

excellent location for one day trip to Cinque terre. Rooms are spacious and very clean.
the lady from the reception is very kind and helpful with all necessary information.
Next door there is an excellent restaurant and is not expensive. I definitely recommend the: fritto misto, scampi alla grillia, pasta with lobster ( delicious). The only negative aspect I would mention is hte parking. Limited options. We were lucky as we've been there in april but I don't even want to think about how is is from May till September.

Moneglia is a very small village and Piccolo Hotel is in an excellent location across from the beach and next to the town centre. We were there mid-October and it is definitely an excellent value. The rooms are spacious and very clean. There were very few people staying at this time of year but the breakfast was still very good. Unfortunately our room was above the local supermarket and they were receiving stock at 6am. Very noisy.

We stayed at the Piccolo Hotel for 5 days in October 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed the break, from the moment of booking the staff were all very helpful, especially Paola. This is a family run hotel where three generations are on hand to make sure that you enjoy your stay. Led by Luigi, the octogenarian patriarch who runs the bar, to Alberto his son who looks after the catering and serves up a fantastic antipasti in the evening, if you opt to eat in and his sons who help out on reception, together with their mother Laura. We opted for a 'Royal' room, which was spacious with sea views and two balconies, looking out onto the avenue of palms, which runs through Moneglia. The beach is located just across this road and Moneglia is a perfect base to visit the Cinque Terre villages, which are easily reached by train, which is the best way to get around. We liked the 'Piccolo' so much that we plan to go back again for another break next year.

Room Tip: The best views are from the front, seaview side, 2nd or 3rd floor

We stayed for 3 nights at the Piccolo hotel in May 2011, in an executive suite at 60 euro per person per night including breakfast, it was worth every cent. The room was spacious, very clean with a balcony over looking the rear alley, Hotel very clean, service excellent, the owners very friendly. Short walk to the beach,20m. Beach towels supplied by hotel. Indoor pool and roof top spa. On Sundays there are markets across the road which are interesting. Great Hotel, great value for money, no hesitation in staying again.

We stayed for three nights at the Piccolo Hotel in early August 2009. It is really a great little hotel. The rooms are very clean and modern, they are air conditioned, and the hotel serves a nice breakfast. The staff was very friendly. We had checked a number of other places in Moneglia that were extremely expensive. In contrast, the Piccolo was reasonable and even in a better location - right across the street from the beach and in the middle of a very fun stretch of charming restaurants and shops (the seafood restaurant right next door is outstanding). We generally loved Moneglia - an absolutely charming Italian seaside resort. The setting is glorious - beautiful water, mountains, and terrain. The location was perfect for seeing the Cinque Terre (20 minutes on the train) as well as Sestri, Portofino, and Genoa. The city has a real family feel to it and is very classy, yet understated. Although a resort town, we had the feeling of being in a real place with an everyday life as well. There is none of the more rowdy behavior that you find in some of the other Riveria towns. We wish we could have stayed longer!
