“Another one to try in Moneglia. Unlikely to disappoint...”
Reviewed 20 October 2013

...unless you're looking for a smile or four from the serving staff. OK, a glimmer of a smile or a movement of the face might be seen, or was that the affect on me of the drink? First night we went it was very busy [on a Tuesday evening] but those zooper cool waiters with faces almost like daleks were unflappable and in due course ....not too long ...the food appeared on the table and was of very generous proportion. The wife had penne ragout, I a chef's special ... spaghetti with shrimps and aubergines. The shrimps were quite a size and generally did not disappoint, tho I felt sorry for them, whether they had been raised in a vietnamese shrimp farm or caught in the ocean somewhere. I really should be a vegan. However, there were only about 3 modest size pieces of aubergine, which did disappoint me. The sauce was quite thick and generous in size, and very fish/shrimp tasting. On another night a daughter had the same but struggled to find more than one smallish piece of aubergine. The wife's ragout was "really good, a massive portion." Gian Maria might learn about CRM from Tender, and Tender from Gia Maria [in terms of serving size]. Combine the two ... and what a place that would be. Impossible, so try each.

“Great spacious rooms, great food !”
Reviewed 3 October 2013

I stayed at Albergo Ristorante Gian Maria one week this past September, as part of a group tour. We had breakfast there every morning - the food was very good and the coffee delicious. We also had all of our evening meals in this restaurant - the day before, we could select our dish, a soup or a pasta and a fish or a veal dish. I m not huge on fish so i had a lot of veal that week but it was delicious. The service is very attentive and personalized and i would recommend this place to every visitor in Moneglia. This place is also located in front of the ocean and right beside a grocery store so it is very convenient to go and purchase extra items you might need.

“Just mindblowing dishes”
Reviewed 10 August 2013

Hi,
We spent two weeks in Moneglia, and that restraunt absoluly bit the other by the quality of the dishes. A spaghetti and risotto frudi di mare were absolutly amazing: full of mussels, prawns, squids, octopus and even crawfish (in other places there were only mussels and prawns). The portion was really large - barelly eatable by one person.
What could surprise you is the prise - just like in other restraunts about 12 Euro for the dish.
In my opinion absolutly the best.

“Good value, nice food”
Reviewed 9 August 2013

The restaurants higher up the list were fully booked so we had to find a good restaurant in Moneglia.

This restaurant seemed to be a good alternative. All of our four dishes were very tasty. We were not dissapointed by any aspect in the restaurant. The food was good, the price is very low for what you get (both quantity and quality).

There was only this one thing missing: atmosphere. Usually I don't stress on this but this time it was too obvious: some restaurants in Italy have poor lighting and look like cantines. I am pretty sure that a slight change of lighting and arrangement of the restaurant would make this place excel.

This is a general thing in Italy. Please people, drop the disgusting flat white lighting and think about how you can transform a room without even touching anything but the lighting.

Other than that we had good dinner for a relatively low price!
