...unless you're looking for a smile or four from the serving staff. OK, a glimmer of a smile or a movement of the face might be seen, or was that the affect on me of the drink? First night we went it was very busy [on a Tuesday evening] but those zooper cool waiters with faces almost like daleks were unflappable and in due course ....not too long ...the food appeared on the table and was of very generous proportion. The wife had penne ragout, I a chef's special ... spaghetti with shrimps and aubergines. The shrimps were quite a size and generally did not disappoint, tho I felt sorry for them, whether they had been raised in a vietnamese shrimp farm or caught in the ocean somewhere. I really should be a vegan. However, there were only about 3 modest size pieces of aubergine, which did disappoint me. The sauce was quite thick and generous in size, and very fish/shrimp tasting. On another night a daughter had the same but struggled to find more than one smallish piece of aubergine. The wife's ragout was "really good, a massive portion." Gian Maria might learn about CRM from Tender, and Tender from Gia Maria [in terms of serving size]. Combine the two ... and what a place that would be. Impossible, so try each.
