We recently stayed at the honeymoon suite during a 2-week trip to Italy. The region is absolutely beautiful but the hotel was by far the best surprise. The room is spacious and beautifully decorated. The people who run are very friendly and Suzana makes a spectacular breakfast. The toiletry products are of excellent quality, wonderful smells. Moneglia is not crowed tourist town, on the contrary, so were able to enjoy tranquil evening strolls and walks in the beach. The hotel also recommended a great family restaurant, La Routa, I believe, which picked us up at the hotel. Highly recommend!!

Room Tip: Honeymoon suite is worth the extra cost.

OK- we found this location online and we were pretty excited about it- but nothing could prepare us for the real thing.
A+++++++. We stayed in the honeymoon suite and it was simply gorgeous. We had many an evening on the large wrap around balcony with some lovely Barolo at incredibly reasonable prices. The people who run the monastery are sensational. Be prepared the food is over the top and irresistable. They can't do enough for you. You will feel like a member of thier family from the minute you arrive.
Perfect location to visit Portofino, Cinque Terre or any of the amazing little towns along the Riviera. We have been to Italy 14 times. This is definately one of our best experiences.
Cheryl

Room Tip: The honemoon suite was delightful and worth the extra $$

We spent a lovely week at Abbadia. Moneglia is a great village to use as a base for visiting Cinque Terre and surrounds. The accommodation was great and breakfasts were first class. It was a home away from home after busy days catching trains, buses and boats to Portifino and Portovenere. Great restaurants nearby and some good shopping opportunities. Abbadia is a quiet sanctuary, a stones throw from the train station and the beach. I would thoroughly recommend this converted Franciscan cloister as a perfect place to stay.

We found this hotel because we had stayed in a wonderful converted monastery near Siena several years ago and this one is in the same hotel group. It did not disappoint. We wanted to visit the Cinque Terre but didn't want to stay in a crowded, touristy town. Moneglia and the Abbadia fit the bill perfectly. First, the hotel. It is beautiful and quiet. Our room, while a bit small, was elegant, clean, and had appropriately modern ameneties. The location is perfect - just a few steps from the main shopping and eating areas, the beach, the train station, and the locked parking lot in which we left our car. Breakfast was great and Susannah was more than a breakfast chef - she was a gracious and warm hostess who gave us suggestions, directions, and also made great scambled eggs and pastries. The town is a perfect central point for exploring the Ligurian coast. An added surprise for us was that Moneglia has what appeared to us to be one of the only sandy beaches anywhere in the area. We spent our last day on rented beach chairs at a gorgeous private beach recommended by Susannah where we had panini and drinks overlooking the Ligurian Sea where we swam and relaxed until sunset. Just fantastic and we can't wait to return.

Great amenities, Personalized breakfast buffet, excellent accommodations, and warm, helpful service by all staff members! Special thanks to Susanna, the breakfast chef, who was so pleased to help us in so many ways. The Abby is conveniently located to town and train station within a few short steps. The church next door is beautiful & it's bells add to the ambiance of our fantastic stay!

We are on a seven week European vacation and this place was recommended to us by friends. My husband and I stayed seven days and what wonderful accommodation. We had the best week spent on a holiday at any time. The location, in Moneglia, was excellent for recharging the batteries after a hectic day exploring Cinque Terre and surrounds. The atmosphere of Abbadia San Giorgio was very restful. With excellent breakfasts, featuring local produce and home baked 'goodies', Susannah made us feel very welcome and pampered.

This is a wonderful converted monastery with cloisters next to San Giorgio church which is worth a visit. Rooms are all individual. It serves bed and breakfast only but is well placed within 2 minutes for many excellent restaurants nearby. Guests can use the pool of a nearby hotel but we loved the beach which is 2 minutes walk to lovely facilities (pay about 27 euros per day for 2). Breakfast is eaten sitting around the cloisters. The food is organic and homemade - delicious, The hotel is not for children but lovely for adults.
The toiletries are heavenly - made with olve oil.
It was my birthday while we were there and I was treated extra specially on that day.
Moneglia is a real seaside resort for Italians - lovely to go away and not be just with other brits, americans etc. No fast food restaurants, no chain store shops - all individual shops and food - fantastic.
Driving around the area is not easy - narrow, windy and huge tunnels with scheduled traffci lights every 20 minutes. Good train service from Genoa and to local towns.
