“The real Italy.”

First off; I have to admit that when I first read the reviews for this villa I thought they were all written by family members or guests that had been paid by the villa owners to contribute nothing but amazing reviews. Well guess what? I can assure you that all these reviews are 100% legit and truthful as Villa San Raffaello really is that exceptional.
My family of four stayed here for the first two weeks of this past September. We had organized to meet three other families from Canada at Villa San Raffaello and were initially drawn to the fact that we would all have our own kitchens and bathrooms, yet still granted the opportunity to share the common areas. Our four families all get along splendidly but having our own seperate living quarters was a real treat. I have rented many villas with friends and the set up at this villa is ideal.
The villa is very well appointed and offers the perfect blend of old world charm with modernized conveniences.
The view from the pool area looking towards Sarnano with the mountains as a backdrop will forever be etched in my mind.
Damien and Sharon are superb hosts. Always eager to answer any questions and provide wonderful suggestions in regards to restaurants and day trips. The "cheat sheet" binder that Damien and Sharon have created is full of worthy ideas. Just follow their lead in this book as it won't lead you astray. The pool area was great, outdoor eating areas were plentiful and the fruit, nuts and vegetables in the garden were a wonderful bonus.
Sarnano and the surrounding area is what Italy is meant to be. The gorgeous vistas all within 20 minute drives of the villa, incredible restaurants that you won't find on Tripadvisor (let alone any guidebooks), fantastic weather and most importantly, an entire town and region that has not been tainted by tourism. Every shopkeeper, grocer and bar owner greet you with an enthusiastic "buongiorno" each and every time you walk in their front door. I have never been to a town in Italy that s so well serviced for its size. Everything you could possibly need is available right in the little town centre.
Not that cheaper is better, but our entire group was dumfounded with how inexpensive Le Marche was. The bang for you buck in Le Marche is unmatched by any other region in Italy.
I wasn't back home in Canada two days and I found myself looking on the web for real estate opportunities in and around Sarnano. I could easily spend portions of every year in this town and never grow tired. Sarnano really is that amazing. Thanks again Damien and Sharon and I look forward to seeing you again in the future.

“A piece of heaven on earth”
Reviewed 20 October 2013 for a stay in September 2013

Villa San Raffaello is the “perfect” Villa!! Sarnano is the “perfect” base city to take day trips from. The town size is just right for restaurants and shopping. Not too small and not as large as Fermo and Macerata. Very easy to get around in and become familiar with in a short amount of time. Lots of wonderful Gelaterias also! YUM.

The Sibillini Mountains are exquisite! Driving through them to the many hill towns was a treasured experience we will never forget. Damien leaves a wonderful booklet in each apartment that gives directions for drives and tourist attractions. Also his recommendations for restaurants and their specialities are very helpful.

We had the most wonderful two weeks!! The Villa’s marvelous gardens provided a great amount of fresh vegetables for meals and breakfast scrambled eggs. Our view from the balcony is AWESOME!! We loved sitting out there whenever we could to eat or just enjoy.

Thank you Damien, Sharon, Louie and Grace for making this vacation possible with all of your hard work. Villa San Raffaello is a little piece of heaven on earth!!

“A great place for families in wonderful Italy”
Reviewed 8 October 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We traveled with extended family daughter son-in-law and grandson and rented two apartments. This was ideal allowing us to be together when we wanted but also have our own time. We had the pool to ourselves but it was great meeting other residents and sharing tips about restaurants and places of interest. It goes without saying that the quality of food and wine is fantastic and also remarkably cheap. And it's a good balance between relaxing around the villa gardens, enjoying the picturesque countryside, and visiting the wonderful towns in the area.

Thanks for taking the time to review us, it was great to hear that you enjoyed the villa, the area and its countryside and prices (you're not the first to comment on value for money locally, when compared to other Italian areas)

“A wonderful find in Sarnano”
Reviewed 5 October 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We stayed in Villa San Raffaello for a week in the end of September, and were very happy with our choice. We went for apartment Grazia with the idea of having enough space with three kids (9,7,3) in tow, and it worked out well.  It was a comfortable base for a holiday where we somehow managed to combine a few enjoyable mountain walks with outings to other towns and kids' activities (such as the adventure park at Lago di Fiastra). The villa itself is a wonderfully restored farmhouse, and the location just outside Sarnano is spot on, there's great views from the windows and especially from the pool towards the mountains and the hilltop town. The host, Damien, is a thoroughly friendly chap and a great help with local information, excursions, and bookings, and always good for a chat. We also enjoyed the harvest, nuts from the trees and those delicious ripe but tiny tomatoes from the vegetable garden. This was late in the season, so were a bit worried beforehand that the summer might be over in Italy (as it surely is in our home country by now). But we had a lovely time weatherwise. The mornings were cool, but it warmed up nicely to mid 20's by the afternoon. Even the pool was warm enough for a quick dip (and much longer than that for our young ones). As to the town, Sarnano was a pleasant surprise despite positive comments we'd seen. It was a lively and friendly place with a good selection of delicacies and restaurants. In particular, we had one great meal at Le Clarisse, much recommended. And the gelateria by the entrance to the old town is not to be missed.

“Amazing Villa”
Reviewed 30 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

This was out third trip to Italy and third different spot. I have to say this was my favorite so far. I would go back here in a heart beat. Damien and Sharon have created something very special here and are the best hosts. They have thought of just about everything you could possible want or need. If there was anything we needed we just asked and they were more than happy to accomodate us. We took over the whole Villa, there were 4 families travelling together, 3 of the 4 with small kids and babies. Each apartment suited each family very well. The gounds and pool were fantastic and the beautiful view of Sarnano topped it all off. The town is great, full of good food, shops and people. We will be returning here for sure!
