My friend and I stayed for 7days in San Carlo hotel. We were made very welcome with Luca and his mother. The hotel is of very high standard, it is immaculate from the bedroom to the restaurant. We ate in the restaurant, the food was excellent with wonderful views, and again lovely staff. On the last night they had a wedding reception, but everything went smoothly and the restaurant was ready by eight o clock for the residents. A stay in this hotel is a must. Grazie tanto per la sua gentilezza. Prudence Betti.

Room Tip: Room with a balcony overlooking the lake is a must

Fantastic Hotel and staff. As a wheelchair user I found this hotel very amenable with easy access to all rooms. The elevator was very smooth and the rooms were large, clean and very modern. The food was excellent and the staff, Mother and Son in particular, were the best hosts you could wish for. Nothing was too much trouble. The views from the balcony were fantastic, not to be missed. I do not understand why this has not been given a higher star grading, it certainly deserves it.

Room Tip: Worth paying the extra for a room with a balcony.

Love this place. good location, great staff, not too far away from Arona for a day or evening out. the view is awesome, and so is the service. Rooms clean and looks nice, lake view is of course to be preferred.

Modern and/or recently renovated room was large, well appointed and comfortable. The large glass windows allowed us to fully appreciate the incredible view over the lake. Tranquil surrounds but only 5 minute drive from Arona, itself a pretty little lakeside town where we enjoyed the lake and good restaurants. Restaurant/breakfast room on a terrace overlooking the lake, very pretty. Value for money is quite high with this hotel.

Staff were helpful when approached but did not volunteer standard information, like time or location of breakfast. Breakfast was good, but of a lower standard than the hotel and we assume the restaurant, although we did not eat there. Car park very small, if it is full like it was for us, there is parking 100m further up the road at the library/statue/church.

Room Tip: Definately request a lakeside room with view - wall to wall glass makes it well worth the extra $$

We arrived during a double wedding party and the din was mighty. No space in the car park before we checked in, but we gave they car keys to the concierge and were spared the trouble. Once in our suite overlooking the stunning lake and the Angera stronghold we entered a heaven of beauty and quiet. The bathroom was equipped with a double jacuzzi and had a view over the garden.
We slept incredibly well and got up too late for the inclusive breakfast (time limit 10:00 even on Sundays). So we were forced to have cappuccino and fruit salad at a tiny, cramped table in the reception. However, we took incredible pictures of the beautiful surroundings. A visit to the "Colossus" - Sancarlone) - only 50 metres away from the hotel is a must.

We spent one night in this hotel. The location is great for views of the lake - above the town on a hill. We had a room with a nice balcony and fabulous views. We parked in the little lot next to the hotel, which was extremely convenient. The wifi did not work well for us - we had to get separate codes as each code worked only for one device - and the connection was not great. The room was warm and the ac did not work for us. We ate in the restaurant and enjoyed the food and wine. There were two men serving all of the tables - they worked hard and I was impressed with how they kept all of the service flowing on what seemed like a fairly busy evening. We left too early in the morning (to catch a flight) to partake of breakfast. This is a good place to stay if you are flying out of Malpensa - it's an easy drive of about 35 minutes, and a relaxing and beautiful spot.

Room Tip: Spring for a lake view. You won't be disappointed!

When you plan a trip to a place you haven't been before, you do your research, read the reviews, look at the pictures, and then . . . hope for the best. Well, with our stay at Hotel Ristorante San Carlo, that is just what we got - the best! As we checked in with Lucca, he told us he was putting us in a room with a "bella vista." When we went to our room (#2) and opened the drape to our balcony, we were greeted with a breathtaking view of beautiful blue Lake Maggiore, picturesque Angera Castle, and mist-shrouded mountains in the background. The beautiful pictures did not do it justice. Our room, with a wall of windows, was spacious and stylishly decorated, and our balcony, while not large, comfortably fit three chairs with room to spare. The restaurant is large and attractive with an equally large open-air dining room. The hotel and the grounds are beautifully situated on a hillside overlooking the lake and the town of Arona.

We would start our day with a warm smile from Lucca's mama as she would prepare us a cappuccino. Then we were treated to a nice assortment of cheeses, meats, croissants, breads, yogurt, muesli, juices. The restaurant dining menu offered a nice variety of Piedmont cuisine paired with a large selection of wines.

Hotel Ristorante San Carlo and Arona are in a great location to explore local attractions and towns and the beautiful lake and mountains. The Lake Maggiore ferry from Arona to Locarno, Switzerland, followed by a return train ride through the 100 Valleys in Switzerland makes for a nice day trip. Arona itself has a amazing assortment of shops both on the main street and tucked along cobblestone alleys. Our trip took us to Amsterdam, Paris and Venice. Our four day stay at Hotel Ristorante San Carlo was the perfect relaxing break for us, made that much nicer by the family feeling we got from Lucca and the warm feeling (and hugs) we got from Mama! We look forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: Request a room with a balcony overlooking Lake Maggiore.
