I stayed at the hotel with my wife for summer vacation between 6th and 13th of July 2014. At first we were slightly taken aback by the not-so-fresh outside look of the hotel and the fact that it seemed in the middle of nowhere. However, the hotel is overall clean and tidy with daily room service. Nevertheless, the walls have seen better days and could use another coat of paint. We stayed in the 4xx/5xx block of the hotel.
The main drawback of what the hotel has to offer are the meals. Although there is a variety of dishes to choose from, there was never really that stood out from the crowd nor was anything really delicious. Except for very fresh and juicy watermelons. One can expect two kinds of meat and two or three kinds of pasta for lunch and dinner, and many side dishes including both fresh and fried vegetables, potatoes, different kinds of cheese, etc. For sure it's enough to have a full and healthy meal, including dessert, but the quality was hit and miss.
This is, however, where the drawbacks end. The pool area is large enough to fit all the guests with many deck chairs. The water is clean and there are lifeguards around. The bar is right next to the pool area with a selection of soft and alcoholic drinks. There are no fresh juices, however and one can't expect the highest quality of alcoholic beverages.
The hotel has also a reserved beach area a 15 minute walk away from the hotel. There are, however 'shuttle buses' (i.e. melexes) driving guests half the way to and from the beach several times after and before meals. They can't reach the beach itself since it's part of the natural reserve and no vehicles are allowed. The beach area is also equipped with enough deck chairs for everyone and the sandy beach is relatively quiet as there is only one other hotel-reserved area with very few 'external' beachgoers who prefer to stay near the village of Marinella.
The village itself is around half an hour away on foot but taxis can be also called to the hotel at affordable prices, especially if shared with other guests. There are several restaurants but almost no shops. There is also an excellent ice cream place at the waterfront.
To sum up, the hotel offers a very pleasant place to spend a week of two with a very nice, helpful staff and a lively and energetic animation crew.
