“Excellent service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

We went to Modica for a night and spent in this historical hotel. The room we stayed was a but odd and dark. However the service was really excellent. Lorenzo was always helpful and made our stay pleasant. The only problem we had was the diversion of the road. It took us 90mins to get out of town in the morning.

A superb hotel. We stayed there for a week at Easter. Lorenzo was so helpful; a fantastic manager. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Hotel is in a fantastic location to explore. Cannot recommend it enough!

We were upgraded to the Bishop's Room, which is beautiful if a bit formal--felt rather like we were staying in a doll's house! Nevertheless, it was nice to have the small balcony. The staff is very pleasant and accommodating. Breakfast was great (one of our best) with buffalo mozzarella and fresh orange juice. One of us felt the bathroom was small; the other much enjoyed the beautiful mosaic tile. Hotel is nicely located. We didn't experience the spa.

This is a quirky place, oddly shaped rooms, crazy color schemes, super-odd lobby and a difficult breakfast area. I've not seen any other hotel in town but I suspect this may be among the top five. What separates it from others may be Lorenzo and Sylvia. Two super smart desk clerks who will make your stay welcome. The place is right on the street: if you don't enjoy street noise then stay away. We love it. Breakfast is only good but served in a cave-like area. I'd stay here again unless someone had a better idea. Oh, if you want to watch the Easter procession this is the spot.

This Hotel is the best. Thats the only words i can think of to describe the wonderfull location, excellent staff and great rooms. I stayed here in september and the hotel was busy, but the staff always had time to have a chat or help recommend somewhere local to visit or eat. The rooms are clean and tidy, this hotel would put some big names in London to shame. Overall a great experience and one I look forward to doing again.

Grana Barocco Art Hotel is IT! Enough have been said about the elegance and most central location of the hotel by previous reviewers, but you have to experience it yourself. Beautiful decorations, perfect location, good soundproofing, sumptuous breakfast. A stunning feature is the glass floor in the cellar where the breakfast is served. You can actually see stone elements of excavation centuries old under the glass. What makes the hotel so remarkable is its stuff. Lorenzo and Paula, always friendly, ready to help or just chat. No effort is spared to make a guest happy. I asked for a ricotta croissant on the first morning, and Paula volunteered to run outside to buy one for me. Needless to say, next morning the croissant was waiting for me. Just one comment: pillows and blankets could be better for a hotel of this class.

Although we made the reservation only one day in advance, the front desk was extremely kind and accommodated us with a couple of choices. In April, of course, this was possible. The rooms are so elegant, while providing every convenience in the bathroom and sitting room. We had a small balcony looking right out on the main street. Closing the shutters made it very quiet at night. In the basement (like a grotto) is a steam room and hot tub. Unfortunately, neither one was very hot. They called it a 'Turkish Bath', which was misleading to me, having been in Turkey. I had a salt scrub and a massage there. The masseuse was a beautiful young woman -- the massage was not the best I've had, but the total experience was good. The location of this hotel is the best -- walk easily to many restaurants and shops. We parked right in front of the hotel all night, free. At 9AM we had to go across the street to the Tabacchi and buy some parking time. We put the receipt on the dashboard. A good system.
