“Wonderful little restaurant. Great food and wine.”
Reviewed 15 January 2012

We went to this little restaurant most nights that we stayed in Modica.
Great food and wine and friendly service. Sat at a table outside and watched the world go by. The owner cooked the meals and his young children hovered around us foreigners intrigued by our accents.
Nice young waitress was most helpful as she spoke good English. Excellent value for what was on the menu. Typical Modican fare.

“A great little restaurant in the heart of Modica”
Reviewed 28 November 2011

The owner and staff at i Baccanti are very enthusiastic and hard-working. The owner used to work for the local pizzeria and then took the plunge to setup on his own. The quality of the food and service means he earns and deserves the support for his business.

Great food and wine and nothing is too much trouble.

“Good food and desserts to die for”
Reviewed 7 August 2011

I love i Baccanti, its a very small eatery found in the back streets of Modica Bassa which serves traditional an well prepared Modican specialities which match the standard of the best of Modica's other traditional eateries. There are couple of other things to know. Firstly don't fill up on the savoury items too much as the chef is a master of desserts, we enjoyed a chocolate souffle of real excellence which was worth a return visit in its own right. The other is that, for children, the owners will happily get a pizza from the nearby La Contea. I don't think that you can get more helpful than that! One more thing, i Baccanti is excellent value, we pay a visit every time we are in Modica.

“A very good choice, for a very small price”
Reviewed 13 February 2011

We tried this restaurant because it was mentioned by Lonely Planet, and it was a very good choice!!! The huge antipasto was composed by 6 kinds of fish and seafood, that's as fresh as the fish used to garnish the pasta. The dessert was a white chocolate flan with a vanilla ice cream ball... wonderful!! And the best thing was that everything was so cheap: for an antipasto (actually it was enough for 2 people), two pasta portions, a fish (orange) portion, a dessert + one 15euro bottle of wine = total 52 euros.
The staff was very available to advise us for the choice of wine.

“captures the essence of Sicilian dining”
Reviewed 13 June 2010

This restaurant is a bit hard to find, but definitely worth it! We had a wonderful family meal with delicious antipasti based on local specialities, fabulous homemade ravioli and mouthwatering steak. The service was a little slow but only because the food was cooked to order and so delicious we ate it too quickly! The ambience of the small restaurant was traditional and relaxed so we had plenty of time to talk and laugh. A very English family became well and truly Italian!! Just as we thought it could not get better, it did with dessert. I can recommend the creme di catalonia ( not sure if that is the correct spelling) and the pistachio tarte. The fomer was a bit like creme brulee but better with a light fluffy slightly lemony cream and the latter was an individual cake filled with a smooth and light pistachio cream.
Highly recommended for a truly Sicilian experience.
