We visited this place, thanks to the reviews on TripAdvisor, and found them to be very accurate:)
The food was good, prepared in a home manner, very fresh and authentic. It is a family restaurant with the father taking orders and serving most of the food and that adds up to its charm. He was very talkative and explained what we were eating, as well as talked about the local traditions etc, which was very nice. The amount of food we ordered was more than we could eat, due to him suggesting new dishes constantly, but it was worth trying. In the end, the bill was worthy of a high -end restaurant instead of a small place in the suburbs with the interior of a diner, but overall the experience was very interesting, worth a try.

We've been here following TripAdvisor suggestions and it was a good choice. The owner is friendly and ready to explain details about local food and history. The Trattoria is not in the center of Modica so you'd better have a GPS to find it. We've chosen ravioli di ricotta, involtini, salsiccia and the previous unknown 'sanapo', a local vegetable similar to spinach, but bitterer. This last was a pleasant surprise, but all the food was good and cheap.

This trattoria was recommended by my brother who lives in Catania. He told us not to be put off by its location but we would experience delicious, unpretentious home cooking. Speaking no Italian, we thought it was going to be difficult but the wonderful owner sat down at the table with his computer and we conversed through google translator. We had plate after plate of fresh, tasty anti-pasti, excellent ravioli and another homemade pasta and moved onto plates of roast sausage and veal (we ordered far too much food!) It was a wonderful experience and we got to try some local beer as well.

Local food at its best. Friendly helpful owner who guided us through what they had to offer. Very good value for money. Don't be put off if it looks closed.Try the door, like some other Italian restaurants it looks closed.

Location is really bad, when we saw the place we considered going somewhere else.
Once through the door we were still having doubts about staying, then Roberto, the big friendly owner, started explaining the menu, we ordered, the full bodied dark red 14 degrees local house wine arrived, the antipasti followed (we ordered far too many...) and when the "ravioli di ricotta" arrived we were very happy to be there! Really special. Main courses were a bit of a struggle.. no space left!
Food here is very traditional, properly prepared and comes in large portions. We would suggest to skip the antipasti, start with ravioli and order different main courses to match the number of people around the table. Price is the last thing to worry about.
To be number one in Modica it's probably a bit overrated, unfortunately we did not have time to try N.2 and N.3.
