“A bartender who is master if his trade”
Review of Martin Cafe

Martin Cafe
Ranked #51 of 239 Restaurants in Modica
Cuisines: Italian
Description: Martin Cafè, for 15 years in the heart of the baroque the ideal place to taste the CAFFE 'in various types (syphone, mocha, filter, Chemex) and, of course, and especially expressed with numerous and tempting variants including specialties with spices, chocolate of Modica and citrus. The superb quality craft GRANITE with fresh and genuine products. The pleasant APERITIFS with snacks and selection of CRAFT BEERS will have a unique taste in front of the Baroque Cathedral of St. Peter. It is not easy to find such professionalism and passion in the cafeteria. Carmelo, the owner, is waiting for you! The Martin cafe will be a pleasant stopover to visit and enjoy Modica and its lovely baroque atmosphere or after as a rejuvenating rest. Here you can also take a quick lunch!

What else one can appreciate more than a master of his trade at the right place.
I spent only few hours in Modica on my whole-day trip to Etna.
But t was enough to sense special island-culture of Sicily and the spirit of people here. Not ingatiating toward tourists, but polite and friendly.

I went in Martin Cafe for "some italian sweet drink and a cappuccino", as I told the bartender who was probably the owner,
I got a glass of fine Muscat wine.

Cozy place.

Carmelo is a barman by career choice - and he's good - he goes on courses and he can make any cocktail, and a decent cup of tea which is a rarity in these parts. Its a little bar, which looks out on to the Duomo of San Pietro, a very central location. Home made icecream and granite in the summer, home made hot (Modican) chocolate in the winter. Great for breakfast or an operative, and he can knock up a mean panino at lunchtime.
