This family owned and run hotel is very delightful. Each room is distinctive and comfortable. The location is central to much of the old city. We had a delicious dinner in their restaurant. My only complaint was that one of the rooms occupied by a member of our group had an odor that unfortunately was related to the septic system.

We spent three nights at this beautiful family run hotel. The owners and staff are exceptionally helpful and professional. Our bed room had been the old sitting room in the Palazzo and with it's high frescoed ceiling, antique furniture, old beautiful tiled floor and balcony was a delight. The elegant dining room is where breakfast is served and later becomes a Michelin starred restaurant. Breakfast is not to be missed with homemade cakes, jams and puddings, fresh fruit, cold meats, local cheeses and excellent coffee. We had a memorable meal in the restaurant which does an excellent rate for hotel residents. The hotel also has a locanda close by where we had a lovely meal of traditional dishes. The hotel also organised a guided tour, for residents, of the beautiful baroque town of Modica.

We booked a hotel in Modica as we wanted to tour the hillside towns of this area. We loved the unassuming feel of this town. Palazzo Failla is family owned/operated with a warm, friendly while professional atmosphere. We were upgraded to a suite with balcony with only slight increase in price. After settling in we walked through the streets of town and found a great pizzeria not far from the hotel. Great food and rustic rock walls inside creating an authentic atmosphere. After dinner we walked through town and found a great piazza overlooking lower Modica. Breakfast was amazing! It was by far the best breakfast buffet of our three week trip. Incredible variety of fruits, pastries, meats & juices. The staff was very attentive to details to make our stay as comfortable as possible from upgrading our room to their courtesy parking of our car! Don't miss the chocolate as Modica is famous for this. It was delicious!!!

Room Tip: We had reserved a standard double room, but were offered an upgraded suite for a small price increas...

What a lovely hotel! We could not have been happier. The room was lovely and the staff was exceptional. The hotel is a few minutes walk from San Giorgio Cathedral in a lovely square at the top of Modica Alta.

Room Tip: Our room was on the first floor and was the former sitting room: 104. It has a beautiful painted cei...

We stayed here in November for four nights to celebrate a birthday and discover a little of Sicily. Our room was in the annex a short walk from the main hotel.

We arrived at the hotel in a car. The hotel kindly offered to park our car as parking is difficult in the old part of Modica.

The room was beautifully decorated and had plenty of space. The bathroom had a shower with sauna functions that we never used, although we did once try to operate it. A shower was all we required.

Breakfasts were good, although we did wonder if there were other breads available as the selection tended to focus on soft white rolls and loaves. Maybe it is just because we enjoy different styles of breads. A spread of tarts, cakes, juices, breads, cheese, meats, fruit and cereals was available for breakfast with tea and coffee made to order.

On the birthday evening, the hotel had very kindly put a bottle of prosecco in the room which we found on returning from a meal at La Gazza Ladre restaurant the Michelin star restaurant in the hotel.

A number of wifi networks were available in the hotel and the room, although it was very weak in the room in the annex. (This may have been a good thing!)

All in all, I definitely recommend Hotel Palazzo Failla.

The family could not have been more helpful, rescuing us when we had abandoned our car on the other side of Modica completely defeated by the one way system. Our room was very small with a skylight roof but proved to be quiet and adequately ventilated with an excellent bathroom. Breakfast in their restaurant was excellent.

I just finished my stay at this hotel and found it a wonderful property. The staff was extremely helpful (the hotel is family run), and went out of their way to make my visit a success. The included breakfast was both plentiful and absolutely delicious!! The menu for the main dishes changed every day so there was no opportunity for boredom. My room was in the annex, and I highly recommend it. It was luxurious and had an incredible bathroom, including a jacuzzi tub!! I also like that there is a Cafe located on the premises, as well as a full course upscale restaurant.

In addition, the hotel is located in upper (alto) Modica so it is very quite but also close to the shopping area. There is a lot of walking involved and there are tons of stairs to negotiate on the way down the hill but the view and the exercise are well worth the effort. I should mention that I always took a taxi back up to the top!

The hotel annex was having internet issues while I was there but it was possible to get access in the main building. And really, how bad is it to be disconnected for a week or so?!

In short, I highly recommend this hotel.
