“Just a wonderful place”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

If you are looking for a quiet Tuscan experience this place is perfect for you (probably need a car though)

The apartment we stayed is was nice, comfortable, clean and everyone worked well and a good view out of a couple of the windows.

The properties views are just amazing, there are some picnic tables (seen in photos) where we would eat dinner or breakfast, it has a magic view and extremely peaceful.

The pool is also excellent, warm, comfortable seating, and an amazing view off the edge of the pool.

There is plenty of car parking.

Wifi in the apartment.

The is a washing available which was very handy.

It has a great location for visiting Tuscany,
Florence 45 minutes,
Siena 35 minutes,
San Gimignano 25 minutes, (which can be seen from the pool and picnic table)
There is a few supermarkets no more than 10-15 minutes away.

Lorenzo who is the manager there is very friendly and helpful.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.

The place has a rustic feeling. Exactly what we were expecting from a agrutourismo in Tuscany. Perfectly located between Siena and Firenze it is the perfect launch pad for visting Tuscan gems like Col d Val d Elsa, Barberino, San Gimignano, Siena, Firenze, Volterra, Lucca etc.

The people living/working at the farm are fantastic, very helpful and kind. The only negative is the lack of a restaurant at (or close to) the farm. But the kitchen in our apartment had everything we needed, and Barberino is close by. The pool is very nice with a fantastic view. From the patio, where it is possible to have a barbeque, there is a stunning view towards San Gimignano.

We stayed there for 5-6 days (4 adults and 3 kids) in 2011, but stopped by in June this year to say hello to Lorenzo and to buy some of their fantastic olive oil.

This is easily my favourite agritourismo out of the 8 I have visited. Others have been in a better location, with a bigger pool, more "posh", or had a restaurant at the farm. But they can not compete with the charm of Borgo Poneto.

Borgo Poneta was an great choice for us as a family. The pool was down from the apartment so very refreshing and relaxing.
We stayed at Borgo Poneta in July 2012. It was clean, beautiful and a relaxing time. Central for daytrips. We loved our stay and can't wait to come back.

We went to Borgo Poneta last week and we loved it very much. We searched hours and hours for the best place.

Location: This place is central to Sienna, Firenza, Pisa and you can see San Gimignano out of the window like a fairytale. It is so quiet that you can hear your own blood pumping. There was also another family, but the property is so big that we even didn't know there was someone else.

Apartment: We were with 7 people, normally only 6 people could stay in their biggest apartment, but it was no problem for them to add an extra bed to one of the rooms. The apartment is very beautiful and bigger then we thought.

Lorenzo: This is the man who is the property keeper, he is very very nice and helpful, we even could contact him at sunday night. Very great guy!

I would recommend this to anyone who loves Tuscany. The quiet home and the possibility to go quickly to the famous cities.

Room Tip: You can also ask to add another bed.

we stayed on a 2 bedroom self service apartmentl. it was really cozy and the rooms are huge. the kitchen is overlooking the vineyards. the grounds are lovely. they've got a sundeck overlooking vineyards (or was it olive trees), and you can cook barbeque as well. there's a pool to enjoy a dip (but its cold in april so we really didn't try).

there's a big supermarket right down the main street (about 5 mins drive) that is open until 10pm, so there's no problem with food. we head there on our first night, bought food and went back to cook dinner. it was heaven! =)

Aside from this, Lorenzo was really helpful. We asked where we could rent a bike, what vineyards are open to visitors, where to find food, what to visit around the area, etc. And he gladly and cheerfully provide information. =)

just a tip to fellow travellers: stay longer! ..there's so much more to explore. =)

Had an absolutely fantastic time here October 2009. Unbelievable views. Great rates. Lorenzo and other host (son of owners? plays guitar) could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Huge adorable german Shepherd named Fabo and resident farm kittens kept us entertained! Wonderfully renovated apartments, ours had wood burning fireplace, full kitchen, laundry facilities on site, plus free welcoming bottle of wine from their own vineyard. Lovely town of Barberino Val D'elsa -- be sure to visit the local butcher (an ARTIST!) and grocer. Also ladies at farm just next door selling FRESH pecorino and honey -- DELICIOUS. Easy trip into Florence, Siena, San Gimignano. Hit "PAM" general supermarket in Poggibonsi for general groceries/supplies.

Borgo Poneta is a very scenic and beautiful place to stay. It is also in a great location to explore the region. We had views of the rolling Tuscan hills from our apartment and from the infinity pool - the latter which is set in an olive grove and is one of the most peaceful pools I have ever had the pleasure to relax in! The apartments are basic but very comfortable and very good value for money. The only slight issue was the windows did not have mosquito netting - fine for me but my husband is prone to bites so not ideal for him. However, despite this we would most definitely return to Borgo Poneta. We also found Lorenzo particularly helpful. Thank you for a wonderful week!
