This was my second visit to Il Paretaio and it was every bit as good as I remembered. Unpretentious farm life in stunningly beautiful surroundings, personal attention from the owners and friendly, helpful staff. The atmosphere is relaxed and everything is well organised and runs like clockwork. Lessons and outrides are great and the food is delicious and freshly prepared. Conversation around the dinner table is lively and, in no time at all, it feels as though you have known everyone for ages. There is no shortage of interesting places nearby to visit, from medieval villages to wine farms, markets to museums, art galleries, restaurants....the list is endless. For a relaxing holiday with a chance to enjoy the beauty of nature and history, it would be hard to beat. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. Great for families, friends and solo travellers.

I'm soooo sorry that I don't have two stomacks to eat all deliciuos food on dinner :))) I'm so glad that I took this chance to go to Il Paretaio :)
Enjoyed every minute here. Pity that we couldn't stay longer.
And don't forget to bring a small fluffy horse with you if it is possible ;)
Small tips:
"If you are going from Florence bus station, ask for San Martino (Poggibonsi) station (S.Filippo A Ponzano)"
"Lunch is for separate price. Need to order before 12:00"

This was my first riding holiday - was not disappointed. Il Paretaio is set in a stunning location - the highlight of the trip was a wonderful 'passeggiata' (ride out) with breath-taking views over the Tuscan countryside, passing through vineyards and olive groves! Really felt that I improved as a rider during my dressage lessons too. Excellent food and wine. It really is a magical place! Definitely hope to return.

Il Paretaio is an incredible place for a multitude of reasons. The riding, as you would expect is exceptional, the instructors are superb as are all the staff, you almost feel like you're at home! Whatever your level of riding you will gain from your time there and if you are a complete beginner there is no-where better to learn to ride. If you want 'Princess Riding' where you just turn up and the horse is all ready for you you can, but if you want to be more involved grooming and tacking your horse then that's fine too. The hacking and wine tasting are brilliant. As an aside, from the wine tasting when i got home I ordered wine on a Friday afternoon and it was delivered on the Monday morning - I don't get items delivered that fast within the UK - exceptional service!! The meals are amazing and as you all eat together it's a brilliant way of interacting with the other guests and after dinner you can sit outside with a glass of wine and watch the fire-flies! The location is stunning and convenient for exploring Tuscany when you're not riding or if there is anyone in your party that doesn't ride. The only reason I've given it four and not a resounding five stars, is that we were there for a week and the towels weren't changed at all and when you're having 2/3 showers a day I would have hoped and expected them to be changed at least once or twice. Also, there was no hairdryer in the room, I asked and was given one but would have thought they would have been automatically provided in the rooms. These are such small points and didn't detract from the enjoyment of the holiday at all and will certainly not prevent me going back next year! Also, I think it's important to note that if you are looking to travel alone this is a wonderful place to be, there were two solo travelers when we were there.

This was now the third time, that we spent our vacation at Il Paretaio. But this time, we asked, if we could bring our own horse with us to get the maximum out of the training. This idea turned out to be excellent. We bought our horse 2 years ago and beside, that he is a wonderful horse, he started to run after a canter quite often. So Gianni and Pietro both rode Lenni and gave the same diagnosis. The former owner rode him with a very strong bite, which made him fear of the pain, so he run. What can I say, after two weeks intense training our horse stopped this behavoiur, also he did not "role" away from the bite, but accepted it again. And we gained a lot more confidence in our horse, which makes it now much more pleasant to ride him. The abilitly of Gianni and the other teachers to feel what horse and riders need is outstanding. This jointly with the whole atmosphere at Il Paretaio, the food (I was not brave enough to check my weight when we came back :-)), just made it unforgetable. Thank you very much - we learned more in 2 weeks in Il Paretaio, than in 2 years with local trainers before !

Room Tip: The rooms are mainly located around the dining room - so if people sit a bit longer and chat - you h...

We are staying here right now and we are loving it. The riding is fantastic with lessons that have shown us so much, to be in tune with the horses, all of which a brilliant to ride, to use gentleness not force to control etc. truly remarkable and not to be missed. An additional bonus are the evening meals, shared with other riders, the meals are generous, Italian and so enjoyable. Near to Pisa, Sienna and Florence, we are staying in a traditional Tuscan farmhouse with views that are so beautiful...
