“Beautiful Tuscany”
Reviewed 24 September 2013

We stayed at Al Gelso Bianco for 7 nights with our 2 boys aged 7 and 4 and WOW! By far it stood out as my favourite part of our trip for several reasons. We stayed in apartment Gelisomo, the most newly renovated apartment and it was spacious, beautifully appointed, not one complaint! We had views to San Gimignano from our outdoor area which was stunning. Our boys loved the pool area and we spent hours there. We used the BBQ often and ate our dinner taking in the views, heaven. Our boys fell in love with the 2 resident cats, Gelistino and Nerino and they still talk about them! The property is so close to many beautiful towns so we didn't feel as though we were in the car all the time. We would often visit a town first thing in the morning before the hoards of tourists hit then spent the afternoon by the pool. The staff were exceptional, especially Stefania, Susanna, Chiara and Dori, all of whom spoke excellent English and always ready to help and give advice. The pizza in the local town, Barberino, was the best we had in Italy and the restaurant has lovely views. I couldn't recommend this accomodation more highly and we will certainly return.

We had one of our best family holidays (we have twins under 7) at Al Gelso Bianco. We spent 2 weeks here in August. The location is great, a short drive from many lovely towns (e.g. San Gimignano) and of course there is Siena and Florence. To be honest though we spent most of our time enjoying Al Gelso Bianco itself and making only a few day trips. Stefania, Chiara and Irene are charm personified and are full of ideas/suggestions and go out of there way to be accomodating. One of the highlights was the cooking class (our children did this twice, once for pasta and once for pizza). There's even a little kitten running around the place! He was a great favourite with all the children. In this regard, it is very family friendly as you will find that most of the guests are families with children of varying ages. We'll certainly be back!

We just got back from our 10 days stay in Al Gelso Bianco and we are already missing the place! Close to major attractions and the small villages nearby are so charming. The pizzeria at Barberino was the best pizza we ever eaten (as recommended by the host). We stayed in Lavanda and the spacious living+dining room is a plus, though we do miss a direct access to the outside such as a balcony. The pasta making class was very interesting and we love how the fresh ingredients from the farm itself made a difference to the food. As a favourite among families with kids, we would like to suggest perhaps a small playground will be another plus. Overall, we had a good time there and our 3-year old is still talking about 2 cats - Celestino and Nerino. We hope to be back again!

Al Gelso Bianco is a perfect for a family vacation to Tuscany. It's well situated conveniently between Siena and Florence and you can easily access San Gimignano. We stayed in the Salvia apartment with our two year old son - it is spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped too.
The pool is a great addition -it's large!

The staff at the farm are wonderful too - incredibly helpful and offered amazing tips!

Room Tip: I would ask for a comforter to be put on the bed - we found our bed quite hard.

We have stayed at Al Gelso Bianco twice now. It was lovely both times. As a family of five it is not easy to find a place that we can stay that is both well appointed and spacious. This is the place!
The location is fantastic. 45 min to Florence, 45 minutes to Siena, 20 Minutes to San Gimignano. You will never run out of things to do.

Just returned from a two week holiday at Al Gelso Bianco with three children. We had the most amazing time, great weather, great location. Plenty to do with the children although a play area would be good. The location was good very central to alot of places like Siene, Florence, San Gimignano. Definitely do the pasta making even though I thought it was expensive but an experience. The staff are amazing and friendly.
We will be back !

Room Tip: We stayed in Alloro which was plenty big enough for our family of 5. It was overlooking the pool are...

We loved the region and this place and thoroughly recommend it, particularly for families! Beautiful setting on a family-run wine and olive farm with great views of the Tuscan countryside. All apartments tastefully appointed with their own outdoor eating space. Extensive, well maintained grounds. Lovely pool surrounded by gardens which allow plenty of space for play and quiet relaxation. Thoroughly recommend the cookery classes with Stefania and Susanna, using fresh produce from the garden cooked in their beautiful kitchen, followed by a civilized lunch in the lovely dining room (Stefania's apple cake particularly delicious!). Wine and olive oil tasting also recommended. The owners and staff are delightful and helpful, notably Chiara and Dori, and Celestino the new kitten provided hours of entertainment! Warm, friendly, idyllic. We'll be back! P.S. Finding our way around the region's roads could be stressful - use SatNav!!
