“Great place for the family”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

We really enjoyed our stay here. They make the whole family feel very welcome. Al Gelso is ideally placed for days out and is within striking distance of several good restaurants. The pasta making course is great, they engage the whole family in the process, you drink wine as you go and then eat the excellent pasta. We stayed in Ginestra and we thought the space and layout was good for us. It was spotlessly clean with two well equipped bathrooms. What made this room extra special is the outside roof terrace, sitting watching the sun go down.

Dear guests,

we are sorry you didn't find our property according with your expetations

by the way I wish to underline some importants aspects:

1) Al Gelso Bianco is NOT an Hotel but a self catering property; so we don't have hotel criteria

2) The apartment is quite new with new forniture, restaured with hight standard materials

3) linens and towels are provided weekly and changed once a week as clearly explained at the offer time

4)the apartment has been shown you at the check in time perfectly cleaned, infact you didn't have any complaints at that moment and we didn't receive any complaints during your stay. instead we had a very hard time to clean the apartment after your check out (MANY garbage bins left in the apartment)!!

5) concerning breakfast (offered by us !!!) , it was an Italian breakfast and it includes bread, croissant, etc.. to have a continantal breakfast you should had asked for it and pay the difference.
6)we provide toilette papers on requests (free of charge)

7)concerning coffee we use one of the BEST Italian brands, probably you are not used to good Italian coffee.

We will take into consideration the other suggestions you gave us that will help us to improuve our services.

Best,
Irene

The welcoming team and family owners at Al Gelso Bianco shared their beautiful property, stories and smiles to provide us with a very special week in Tuscany. Our six year old daughter just loved the pool, which was kept at a comfortable 20 degrees Celsius. She swam every day, sometimes twice, and even in the rain. She and I had such fun in the pasta cooking class with Stefania and Suzanna (we now also have the best recipe for tiramisu ever) while my husband enjoyed local wine tasting (drinking) on the property. We stayed in Lavanda Apartment, with beautiful stone floors, a well-equipped kitchen, a very comfortable bed and sofa bed and lovely furnishings. We didn't have a chance to make use of the BBQ (almost unforgivable for Aussies) but it has the most stunning views across the countryside. During our stay we were very lucky to experience an annual medieval festival in San Gimignano as well as a truly entertaining piano accordion concert as part of a summer music festival, Pieve de S. Appiano (just down the road). The concert was accompanied by an amazing outdoor dinner of local Italian food in the walled courtyard. This is an annual festival in June and July. We would highly recommend Al Gelso Bianco as a wonderful experience for couples, friends and families.

We spent weeks, months, looking into the many hundreds of villas that are available to rent throughout Tuscany. We are so incredibly happy that we chose Al Gelso Bianco as our Tuscany home for our stay. Pictures simply don't do it justice, the views of the vineyards and olive groves with the towers of San Gimignano in the background make it a spectacular base for any stay in that region. Irene and Vittoria were so helpful in helping us plan our stay and also offering suggestions of where to visit while we were there. From there you can easily drive to Florence, Siena, Volterra and even the beautiful Tuscan seaside for a day trip, or simply relax by the pool (which we also did). Our 2 boys (ages 6 and 10) loved playing foosball in the olive grove and exploring for hours and adored the resident cats (which may have been their favorite part of the whole trip!) We loved the pasta making class and driving into Barbarino val d"Elsa for dinners in the old city and breakfasts at the local bakery. Our apartment, Gelsomino, felt so private with its patio and was spacious enough for our family of 4. We appreciated how comfortable, clean and modern it was inside while still retaining the traditional Tuscan charm throughout. Even though there are other apartments on the property you still feel that you are staying at a friends estate with the warm and friendly atmosphere they succeed in creating. Thank you to everyone at Al Gelso Bianco for making our Tuscany vacation such a memorable one.

Room Tip: Gelsomino was an excellent choice for us, newly renovated, modern, 2 bedrooms and a large enough liv...

We stayed at Al Gelso in mid May and it was a highlight of our 6 week tour of Italy. One of the things I really wanted to do whilst in Italy was to stay in the Tuscan countryside on a beautiful property amongst undulating hills, overlooking vineyards and this is exactly what I was looking for. The property itself is simply beautiful, well maintained and homely. Our cosy apartment overlooking the olive trees and out across the vineyards. The staff were so friendly and helpful, making meal reservations and offering suggestions/advice about the surrounds. We felt like part of the family. This was a fantastic base for visiting other cities like Pisa and Siena. We really felt like we were experiencing the true Tuscan lifestyle. I also recommend the cooking classes on site. It was so much fun, even with our one year old son who ended up being covered in flour. The food was delicious and the recipes have already proven to be a hit back home with our family and friends. It is a great family vacation destination. Wish we could return soon.

Beautiful location and very convenient to both Siena and Florence. Everyone there was incredibly friendly and the grounds, with all the flowers in bloom, was quite lovely. Definitely recommend this location for a family with children.

This was the ideal vacation area and the BEST possible location. We (wife, 3 kids, mother in law & me) stayed 4 nights and wished we would've been there longer. The cottage was spacious and clean and with magical views from the porch. The staff truly deserve the highest honors as each member went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and comfortable during our stay. They suggested locations for us to explore, provided on point directions and made dinner reservations for us each evening. Do yourself a big favor and take a cooking class as part of your stay. The entire family enjoyed being part of the preparation process and our tastebuds haven't forgotten the food. Also, you have to get a few bottles of the chianti and the olive oil. We smile each time we see the photos of this vacation. We will certainly return for another visit.

Room Tip: All of the rooms appeared to be in great condition. We had a room overlooking the fields and the val...

We had a lovely time at Al Gelso Bianco. Our stay was for 4 nights and we enjoyed them all. While visiting a storm caused some trouble, but the owners were very quick to remedy the situations as best as they could. We brought our two young children here and they were welcomed so lovingly by the owners and staff. The property is beautiful and in a great location for taking day trips to explore the region. We took a family cooking class on-site and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. We would recommend this property to our friends and family and can hopefully return again ourselves someday!
