Owner description: The Castello di Meleto is in the center of an ideal geographical triangle formed by the cities of Siena, Florence and Arezzo. Surrounded by six beautiful houses, painstakingly restored in 2000, preserving its rustic Tuscan style. Each house has a private garden or terrace that overlooks the countryside surrounded by green vineyards and olive groves. In the basement of the castle, a real historical monument, a charming wine shop allows you to taste our wines, our organic extra virgin olive oil and salami of Cinta Senese from our farm. In addition, daily guided tours of the ground floor of the castle, the eighteenth-century theater, the dungeons with ancient cellars, prisons and the secret tunnel to escape from the Castle .. will make you to live an unique and unforgettable experience in a real castle in the Chianti area.

“Nice castle”

Nice place with a beautiful panorama view. Recommendable destination for a bike trip from Gaiole. We have enjoyed the wine tasting in the castle wine shop.

“Castle in need of upkeep”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2014

We took a day travelling around a couple of the vineyards of Tuscany with this being the first stop. Upon arrival we were ushered to the tour of the castle, which in truth was starting to look a little tired. The artwork was fading and the rooms generally fairly plain. A big highlight though was the small theatre where the players were rewarded in bread. This was generally well preserved and quaint. We progressed on to a light lunch which was very tasty. The only strange point was the serving of the lasagne before the anti pasti. This was accompanied by a tasting of 3 of the wines from the vineyard - a white and 2 reds. The former was nice enough but the latter 2 unremarkable by the standards of the area it was in.

“Team Building Event”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 April 2014

Although we had a light lunch during our fantastic team building event at Castello di Meleto, we were given a plate of spaghetti bolognese followed by a platter of salumi and cheeses, complimented with their own white wine and finished off with coffee and almond crostini.

“Good Wine Tasting for the Price”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 March 2014

I enjoyed seeing the historic castle and only paying 5 euros for a tasting, but the staff could have been a little friendlier and rinsed out our glasses between each tasting. We didn't stay long but the wine was worth tasting.

“Interesting 13th century castle--excellent Chianti!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 January 2014

We stumbled on Meleto castle kind of by chance--just looking for someplace that was open for us to buy wine on a gloomy January day in the Chiant hills.....I am glad that we decided to take the E15 castle tour as well. (the tour included a bottle of decent Chianti at the end) The castle is a well-preserved one with many interesting features, painted furniture and Baroque-style frescoed walls, an 18th century theatre which is still in use, a banquet hall, and a bridal suite! The wine shop has many products to purchase besides wine, (salami, olive oil, honey, etc.) as well as offering wine tasting. Meleto castle offers accomodations in the castle itself and in outbuildings on the premises. It is also available for banquets and weddings. Our visit to Meleto Castle was a definite highlight of our trip to the Chianti region!
