This is not the place to stay if you have a tough time climbing stairs. In their defense, we did not ask for a ground floor, but we arrived late in the day, and were so tired, we just wanted to sleep. Rosilin was very helpful. The internet did not work in our room, and only sometimes when we were close to the office. The breakfast was the same every day, and got a little boring after so many days. If you are planning to tour Tuscany, you must have a car. This would be a fine place to stay if you just wanted total seclusion. Had it not been for the GPS, I don't think we would have found it.

Beautiful scenery, lovely apartments, and a peaceful setting for relaxation after hectic cultural visits to nearby Florence and Sienna. The pool is bordered on two sides by a vineyard, so you really feel part of the Chianti region. It's far enough away from the main road to ensure tranquility, but with good access to nearby towns for those important shopping trips. That said, there is an excellent restaurant on the doorstep (booking essential) and a small shop, perfect for daily essentials, so you can spend days just relaxing by the pool if you prefer. Friendly, knowledgable and extremely efficient staff top off the whole experience.

Our stay was fabulous, the beds were king size! (in three of the bedrooms) and comfortable. The kitchen was great. There were 7 or 8 of us and we never felt crowded. The photographs on the internet did not do it justice. San Sano is picture perfect, small, quaint, and friendly. The restaurant across the street from our villa was very good and reasonably priced and very accommodating. The little attached grocery store was a bonus, for breakfast items, etc. Annie the property manager is great, she took care of all our questions and requests in a very prompt manner. Thank you Annie!! We would suggest the San Francesco parking if going into Siena, the escalators there make the trip into the walled city easy.

We visited the Tuscan region in January 2010 and stayed in the villa Casa Isabella in San Sano. To Tuscany was exceptionally helpful from the time of booking to the time of arrival with someone in San Sano to assist us upon arrival. The villa was perfect for a family of four travelling with young children. We found it to be very clean and equipped with all the essentials - including a washing machine / dryer. And, although we were travelling in the middle of Winter, we found the villa to be very well heated. San Sano is a very quaint village set deep in the Tuscan country side, it has a small grocery store and a restaurant, but is close to Radda for shopping and dining out and is well positioned for travel to all of the major centres, including Florence, Pisa, Sienna etc. Being the middle of Winter we had the entire village to ourselves - it was pure magic!

Visited Italy at least 50 times in the past 50 years, always visiting beautiful Italian cities but never experienced real Tuscany until this trip . It was slow and relaxing but vibrant and interesting at the same time....it was Italy full of colour, breath-taking sceneries... very old and genuine but comfortable and pleasant .San Sano is the epicentre of it all and wouldn't go any where else. ...we are repeating the experience this year again.... chosen to celebrate my sixtieth birthday at San Sano and over the summer 60 of our closest friends and relatives will join us there for a continuous celebration , full of fun ,Italian music, genuine Italian food and real Chianti

My husband and I celebrated 2 3 days of our honeymoon in this lovely farmhouse.. I have told everyone I have met about the people, place and total atmosphere of San Sano.. The food was excellent at dinner and we decided to eat with them 2 nights..
They even made us a lunch one day of pasta that was amazing, bc we missed breakfast..... I would recommend this to any honeymooners/ small groups / travelers... only thing is you need to rent a car.. if you want to leave the resort at all... some great local places near by - wineries etc.. Castello Mielto (great wine tasting) ..

Absolutely fantastic place. We were on a Cabrio driving tour so safe parking a must. Hotel San Sano has safe covered parking and is well away from the beaten track. A vineyard facing room with a terrace is a must. Dinner is excellent home cooked fare, but not much choice. However, you are presented with the 4 course menu of the day at breakfast and asked if you are ok with it, they were quite willing to accomodate any likes or dislikes. Dont let this put you off as the food is excellent. The owners Maurizio, his wife and Susanna are fabulous hosts and booked wine tasting appointments for us. The surrounding countryside is stunning. The Chianti region is a must for anyone.
