We were in San Sano for the annual art festival, which was wonderful. We love this village, it is so special to stay in a authentic medieval village with Italians walking their dogs and saying "ciao" to us. The restaurant is very good and homey. We stayed at Casa Amore - a rented villa in San Sano, and would stay there again and again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday staying at Casa del Mastro in San Sano which is an excellent base for exploring the surrounding towns and villages or simply for relaxing by the pool. The apartment is located in a small village and whilst there are a couple of other villas nearby, we still felt we had all the privacy we needed when we dined outside. The apartment has been tastefully furnished with everything we needed, even a dishwasher. The living areas are spacious as are the bedrooms which are located in the loft space. The bedrooms are airconditioned but the power supply in the village did go out once in the week we were there.
The local grocer is only a minute's walk from the villa and there is a small but well stocked supermarket 20 minutes drive away in Radda in Chianti. We loved our stay at Casa del Mastro and would definitely recommend it.

We spent 4 days at this San Sano hotel and it was very quiet and relaxing. The staff are very sweet and the food is very good. The area itself is in the middle of the Chianti region in Tuscany, surrounded by vineyards and is stunning. The pool area is really well taken care of, hidden among olive trees and flowers, complete with hammock and looks out onto views of the surrounding countryside.

We spent the 3rd week of June at the very pretty San Sano. Our room location was especially good with a spacious terrace overlooking a hillside vineyard. The room and bathroom were spacious and clean, the furniture in good taste rustic.

The setting of the hotel is off the beaten track,in the tiny beautifully village of San Sano. You will need to drive to either Gaiole or Radda for supplies, but both are only aproximately 10 kilometers away. There is a small restaurant in San Sano but it appeared not to be open

The hotel provides a daily breakfast served on the main hotel terrace. The breakfast was fresh and consisted of a variety of continental selections.A 5 course Dinner is optional for a charge of 30 euros per person , the dinners were tasty and wholesome but we found them a bit heavy for our taste, especially if we had a substantial lunch while touring. You can opt out for a meal or Pizza in Radda but be sure to head back to the hotel before dark as there are no road lights and Italian drivers "ride your tail".

The roads in the area are well maintained but narrow and winding ,the S222 is a wonderful tour road winding up and down the Chianti Hills through well preserved villages and towns, with incredible views of vineyards and castles. The hotel is well located for touring Chianti in your car and yet is tucked away from road noise and bustle. We were very happy with our choice ,it was a nice change from the tour groups of Rome and Florence ,spending time on our quiet terrace with a little prosecco and antipasto overlooking the Chianti Hills.

We were pleased with the service at the hotel and they were particularily helpful with a medical situation. I had injured my back midway trough our stay in San Sano, the staff kindly contacted a Doctor and found an open pharmacy and provided translation as well. They furthermore setup breakfast and dinner trays for me and on Sunday when the restaurant is closed they graciously prepared a simple 2 course meal for us .

Altogether this is a lovely little hotel residenza with a large clean swimming pool to cool off in or you can cool off in your well air conditioned room. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property and would love to come back soon.

What a charming place to stay!
San Sano is a very small village in the heart of the Tuscan countryside, not found on most maps. It was everything we imagined Tuscany would be. We had a spacious villa suite, with a large terrace overlooking vineyards. The hotel/inn was relatively quiet, I think it only has 12 rooms. So if you are looking for action, this is not the place for you. But, if you are looking to relax, enjoy great views, tour magnificent medieval towns/ villages, eat incredible food and drink wine to your hearts content, you will not be disappointed. The location of San Sano is about 20 minutes outside of Siena, in the heart of the Chianti wine region. You MUST rent a car, as that is really the only way to travel through this region. The drive alone, through the winding hills, is an experience you will never forget.
