“Fabulous Villa, Location and Host”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 November 2013

My family and I stayed at the villa for a month during August 2013 and various groups of friends join us during that time. The villa was beautiful and spacious and set in lush vineyards with breath-taking views. We took advantage of hiring the housekeeper, a chef and tennis coach. The pool is atop the hill to the rear of the villa and was a fabulous area in which to relax and unwind.
The owner was more than accommodating and helpful and I wouldn't hesitate to return to such a magical place.

We had 12 people, 6 couples, and loved this villa. All the bedrooms are ample in size and each has its own ensuite bath. We really enjoyed the outside porch that looks over the vineyard and valley with a gorgeous view of Radda. The kitchen is dated but we had a chef come in 2 nights and they did not have a problem working with it. Having amenities like hair dryers made packing easier. The proprietor was very helpful with maps, suggestions of restaurants and day trips. Truly a great experience and I would come back.

Room Tip: We took over the second floor and all rooms were great.

We were so lucky to pick Villa Vistarenni for our wedding and holiday with the family and friends.
We spent one absolutely amazing week in the villa before our wedding party, embracing unforgettable atmosphere of the villa with its rich history and tasteful luxury, enjoying great surroundings of the area and just relaxing in the comfort and beauty of Vistarenni.
We rented the whole villa with dependancies for the whole week so that our big family and best friends could share this enjoyment with us. And it was a good decision because we loved seeing everybody being happy about amazing time we spent together. Vistarenni has everything to make your wedding, family reunion or any other big event a success. Apart from 17 bedrooms , countless number of dining rooms, seating rooms with great view to the picturesque valley, a library and a kitchen-museum, the property has a large hall for gala dinner. This makes it even more attractive wedding destination.
Elisabetta, the owner of the villa, was very welcoming and friendly. She helped us to find the right vendors and was managing the set up and preparation on the wedding day. We didn't have to hire a wedding planner. The wedding party went very went. We can't name a thing that we were not happy with.
If you are looking for a wedding location, family reunion or just a holiday in Tuscany, this is the choice.
ps: The pictures can't reflect the beauty of the place.

Everything about this villa is perfect. It is even more beautiful than pictures, views extraordinary, location convenient to everything in Chianti region, easy walk to town. Villa easily accommodated our party of 12 with room to spare. Owner went out of her way to help us when we had car trouble. Other villas that I have stayed at in this price range aren't even close.

We had our wedding at Villa Vistarenni a few weeks ago, its couldn't have been more perfect!!! The setting is stunning, the Villa is insanely beautiful and Elisabetta who owns the Vila and helped with the wedding was very welcoming and helpful!!

We stayed at the Villa from the Wed-Sun and all of the guests who stayed at the villa were enchanted with the Villa and its surroundings. Elisabetta was always on hand in either person or email if we had any questions/needs, even translating our wedding service! Caterina the housekeeper was adorably sweet and also on hand if we needed anything (a case of red wine late at night....she was there!). Elisabetta recommended most of our suppliers for the wedding who all proved to be cost efficient and great service.

The only down side of the villa is that is a little too far from Radda center and ordering a taxi without pre-ordering it a day in advance is not possible!! However if it was closer to Radda then it wouldn't have the spectacular views, so all you need to do is pre warn your guests to pre-order. Or as one of our guests did walk back to Radda at 6am (7km walk!!). There is definitely an opportunity for a taxi service in the area!

We are looking forward to going back to Villa Vistarenni in the future

For our big vacation of the year, I spent a good bit of time with my travel agent studying and comparing countless villas throughout Tuscany, particularly in the Chianti region within striking distance of Siena. This was our family's 4th villa rental in Italy, and by now, I have a good sense for what our group (11 of us this time) requires. Vistarenni ticked all the major boxes when deciding on the property: location, views, # of bedrooms, large common living and dining areas, plenty of privacy, pool, high speed wifi, laundry facilities, services (housekeeping, catering), price.

Upon arrival we were greeted by owner Elisabetta who gave us a tour of the property. The website and any photos we were provided in advance or found online did not do it justice. It is a stunning villa (practically a small palace) with beautiful rooms, and oh, the views! All of the bedrooms have en suite, basic, but clean and functional, bathrooms. There are jaw dropping views from all of the rooms that face Radda.

Though a few minutes walk from the main villa (there is a farmhouse adjacent to the pool which has apartments that can also be rented - they are left vacant when you rent the villa), the pool and area surrounding it are beautiful, extremely private and offer a different view - very rural with only a few other structures in sight.

On our first night, and at our request, Elisabetta arranged for a caterer to prepare a meal for us, so that we could fully relax after traveling - some of us from New York, some from San Francisco. Service and food were perfect for what we required. The caterers also did some shopping for us so that the kitchen was stocked with the basics to which we could add after our own trip to the grocery store. There is also an ample supply of Villa Vistarenni wine which can be accessed throughout your visit. The number of bottles consumed were counted at the end of the week, and we were charged just 7 euro per bottle.

Our housekeeper Caterina was terrific. Every day she tidied our rooms, cleaned the bathrooms, made our beds and, importantly with a house filled with 11 Tuscan chefs-in-training, cleaned the kitchen. Caterina lives on property, but was virtually invisible except for the few hours she spent attending to our needs each day. She was just a phone call away when had a special request.

Elisabetta and Caterina both made us feel very much at home.

It is important to note that because Vistarenni is a working winery, we did occasionally see workers, but they were not imposing and did not interrupt our privacy either in the house, in the yard, or by the pool. The guts of the operation are very well hidden (especially given their proximity) from the actual residence. All the workers were very discreet. The occasional tourist would come to take a closer look at the villa (it is set back off the main road about 2 kms down an unpaved, but easily passable driveway). This was not a bother to us at all, and again did not infringe upon our privacy.

Though the villa does not have air conditioning, its old, thick walls keep the interior of the villa cool throughout the day. The weather was warm during our visit, yet it was always pleasant inside during the day, and comfortably cool at night.

The location of the villa is central to visiting Tuscany and the Chianti region in particular. You won't be able to avoid windy roads, but that is the nature of the area, and is actually a plus for those who love to drive country roads in European cars (like me!).

Toward the end of our week at Vistarenni, Elisabetta took us on a tour of the ancient wine cellar with massive oak barrels where their wine is aged. The barrels are so large that they had to be constructed in the cellar. She also took us to the charming chapel not far from the villa, just beyond the tennis court.

Though the address says Gaiole, the villa is actually closer to Radda in Chianti (about 4kms). Radda is a quaint village with a handful of restaurants, cafes and shops, a grocery store, fresh fish delivery on Friday mornings, a public park, a gas station, a cinema and breathtaking views including that of the villa and its grounds.

So if you're in search of a very fairly priced, beautiful property with great service for a family getaway or a special occasion (wedding, etc.), and especially if you love staying in historic places, you should consider Villa Vistarenni.

We look forward to coming back for another visit.

I recently spent a long weekend with my husband and daughter, just to get away from our stressful
life in London, and we had the most amazing and peaceful time in this marvelous Villa.
The view of the Chianti hills is astonishing and the host was really helpful and charming.

I do recommend this place to everyone who is looking for the perfect holiday retreat.
