"Cozy" seemed to be a major consideration for several TA reviewers. We had no such issue. It's not cozy, but it's a nice, clean place, with good food and a neighborhood feel - and it's pretty popular with tourists and locals alike. Personally, I liked the atmosphere. We dined outside and chatted with a couple of women at the next table who let me pet their dog. It was quiet, except for some pleasant church bells and the faint sound of the nearby river. I gave the place an Average for romance because we enjoyed it and we were on a bucket-list trip.
The food tends toward the fast food end of the scale, but there are exceptions. We went for a bacon mac & cheese and a 1/2 chicken with fries. Both dishes were very good and reasonably priced - by Norway standards.
We enjoyed it. The only real drawback for us was the fact that the kro doesn't open until 11 AM, so we had to look elsewhere for breakfast.

This is a cafe / fast food restaurant at one end of town; it's part of a holiday park with cabins. It's pretty nice inside. There's quite a wide menu, including the normal fast food stuff, plus things like snitzel, as well as the odd sandwich. I had burger and fries (119nok), my wife had snitzel (169nok). Both were very good, and the portions were decent. The place had free wifi, and the staff were friendly. Overall, a good option.
