This is a hotel of 2 parts. The old part which is the bit you hear about which has interesting features, fantastic views and is old! The other part is like a 1960's prison block built in the car park.
Having said that, our room (460) was located in the prison block and was not too bad a room. The size was good, a balcony overlooking the car park and a bit of a view over fjord.
Wifi is free, however, it was not available in our room and was very intermittent in the lounge and lobby areas.
The bathroom was ok although the only toiletries are attached to the wall for soap and shower gel. It also gets the award for the thinnest, cheapest plastic toilet seat!
There was a good choice for breakfast and the buffet dinners were very good (despite what other reviews in Trip Advisor have suggested.)
The dining room is huge and caters for huge parties which consisted of lots of Chinese on our first night and Spanish on our second night. If you are not part of one of these large groups you tend to be seated at a nice table overlooking the fjord. The food areas are manic and elbows are necessary to get the food of choice!
Note also that as the hotel caters for many people on tours that leave at around 7.30, there is a lot if noise, banging and bus engines until around 8.30. This us also the best time to go for breakfast as you get the whole room to a handful of people!
