This town has lots of old houses and looks like it has not changed any since it was buildt (the old part of town). A great place to spend some time and relax. beautiful, but not too much to do. you can visit the salmon museum though. The river that enters the ocean here is a great salmon fishing river.

Gamle Lærdalsøyri has everything going for it in terms of location and old and quaint buildings, but that is about it. Went there mid-season and the entire place was as bustling as a ghost town. There is literally nothing to see here, apart from a few wooden houses, and even less to do apart from spending money in the "Tourist Information" which also serves as a ridiculously expensive delicatessen.

I intended to stop & walk this town having read reviews, but rain on the day instead kept me to a slow drive and brief stop. The buildings stand out-of-the-usual along this National Route drive. I have no doubt i would have enjoyed stretching my legs here; some interesting features

The old part of this town looks like a Sergio Leone western movie set. It is so nice and cozy but also you have the idea of being in a abandoned village. Very nice to visit. Pretty unique place.

This is a small part of Laedal. Some houses are quite cute. Unfortunately, on the day we were there (Sunday), the town was so quite. I wish there are more shops opened that day. We spent only half an hour there (and a bit more time at the salmon center). We could have spent more time if shops were open.
