When staying in Lærdal it is nice to have a walk in this area. Unfortunately the shops were all closed when we visited (official holiday), but the just walk was still very nice.

42 buildings in the old part of town burnt down in a major fire in 2014 - and several more were damaged, and while there are no visible traces for the untrained eye, it's noticeable the old part is thinned out. Nonetheless, the ones left are charming and have managed to maintain the old part feel.

An amazing old place where you can walk around looking at the old houses and feel the good old days :)

This town has lots of old houses and looks like it has not changed any since it was buildt (the old part of town). A great place to spend some time and relax. beautiful, but not too much to do. you can visit the salmon museum though. The river that enters the ocean here is a great salmon fishing river.

Gamle Lærdalsøyri has everything going for it in terms of location and old and quaint buildings, but that is about it. Went there mid-season and the entire place was as bustling as a ghost town. There is literally nothing to see here, apart from a few wooden houses, and even less to do apart from spending money in the "Tourist Information" which also serves as a ridiculously expensive delicatessen.
