My family and I (11 people all together, aged 28 to 67) did a full-day kayak excursion with Whitey and Rowan this week. I can't think of a more perfect way to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of Norway - we had an absolutely fabulous time!
Whitey was the group leader and a source of endless patience, enthusiasm, charisma and interesting information about what we were seeing. It was Rowan's first day but you can tell already he will be a fantastic guide - he was helpful, kind, and also full of great stories. They both made us feel safe and content the whole day, giving instruction where needed and tidbits of info throughout. We had amazing weather and, at the lunch break, had an invigorating swim while Whitey and Rowan grilled up a feast of pork, pasta, and garlic bread in the most picturesque setting imaginable. Delicious and far from the packed sandwiches I was expecting!
On the way back we took an extra stop at a beautiful waterfall and threw a frisbee around in a meadow with, again, a spectacular view. We filled up our water bottles with the freshest water I've ever tasted. We couldn't have asked for a better Norwegian experience!
All of us said it was the best day of our week long vacation - seeing the fjords from a kayak gives you a different perspective compared to the big ships and really makes you feel like you're in nature.
Thanks again to Whitey and Rowan - we'll be talking about that day for a long time! Cheers!
