At Mealhada each door is a suckling pig restaurant (Leitao), so even if all the restaurants have a similar menu, they are really different. Four different options are: Nova Casa dos Leitoes, Pedro dos Leitoes, Casa Vidal (little far) and this one: Rocha. This is a very good option, probably it is not the best, bur definitely worth a visit. Service is really fast and friendly, food is above average, and you pay for what you get. Try the frisante (sparkling wine), which is also good.

We go to Mealhada every year on our way back from Fatima, chose this one on the recommendation of trip advisor, but been to several others as passing trade that have been much better. Salad good, leito, ok but small portions. Toilets nice, clean & modern. My advise would be take a chance, go to the restaurant that you like the look of & feel comfortable with. Leito is delicious dish and this area famous for it, they are all much of a muchness. Also the red slightly sparkling wine goes much better than the white with this dish, don't listen to waiters who quite often want to push a wine they have plenty of.

We went there as it seemed ot be a local find without a tourist trap - however we experienced different:

As we arenot Portugal first timers we know that "1 dose" is enough for 2 persons - regardless in other places side dishes like salad or french fries are included in the "1 dose" this is charged extra here (2,4€/person).

So we ordered clearly stating "uma dose leitão" and "dois guarnições" - however they wanted to charge us 2 doses and 2 guarnições - when I complained they disagreed and said "uma dose para dois" - this is BS and I'm 100% sure that this was to cheat tourists.

I just wanted to be charged according to the menu prices - at the end the diference wasnot exactly the 2nd dose leitão (as they somehow didn't charge the pao, azeitonas and croquettes but a cuvert of 2,05€) - however why do they have menus if they don't follow?

Food it good but our leitão was almost cold and nothing really special....

Not recommended as they treat turist to be stupid....

This is the restaurant you go to eat only 1 thing: Leitão. Considered by the local people ( almost no tourist there ) one of the best places to eat this fabulous young pig meat.
The most important thing is that the restaurant owns a "Matadouro" a place to kill the pigs so the meat can not be fresher.
.
Free parking with a lot of free spaces.
.
Rustic and simple inside decorations.
.
Very good and fast service.
.
Very reasonable price for meals: 7 euro for a bottle of local champagne and 15 per person for the Leitão.
.
Open from 2 pm. until midnight but the best time to eat is 7.30 pm.

When near Mealhada, always stop by to get the local dish Leitão, which is roasted baby pig, served directly from the oven to your table.
As this is the main dish, you will not wait more than 10 minutes to have to food on your table.
Take time to try the roasted pig croquets.
Other dishes in the menu are also nicely cooked (fish, other meats).
Nice wine list also, especially with wine and sparkling wines form the surrounding vineyards.
Restaurant was update recently.
Staff very friendly.
No Cards accepted, but the restaurant has a ATM inside.
Private parking available
