Just five minutes’ stroll to the restaurants of the old town, this b & b is set in a beautifully restored villa with garden, in a plush, green part of town. Rooms make clever use of space, with modern bathrooms and simple, stylish decor. Small lounge and terrace for drinks/breakfast. Book well ahead in summer.

My family recently stayed at Villa Lorenea due to the fact that another hotel we were interested in was completely booked, and I am very happy that we found this gem. We are experienced home exchangers and tend to like staying in residential areas versus tourist areas, and this B&B is in a lovely residential area yet a short walk from the heart of Hondarribia and all the touristy areas. The owner has created a lovely oasis both inside and outside and the stay was very peaceful. The rooms were clean and modern and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was served in a lovely garden area and we had a choice of both continental and made to order items. The owner was very attentive and went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. Next time we return we will definitely stay here again.

A house in the Villa area just on the outskirts of the town. 6 (?) good sized, well furnished bedrooms in a very pleasant garden on a extremely quiet road.
An easy 10 minute stroll to the centre of the town in one direction and maybe a 15 minute walk to the boat Harbour and beach in the opposite direction.
The owner/hostess was very friendly and helpful; email communication with the booking was prompt, courteous and efficient. She spoke several languages well (English, Spanish, French I heard ...undoubtedly Basque too); gave very useful restaurant tips. This area of Spain is certainly not cheap, so the 100+€ per night for the double room including breakfast was acceptable. Ample parking for around 6+ cars inside the plot of land. Breakfast was ok, but rather limited in variety: cereals consisted of only Cornflakes; one type of cheese was offered each day; two meats (ham and a typical hard sausage for you to cut your own slices). Freshly squeezed orange juice (you could hear the oranges going through the machine in the kitchen) was a definite plus. Most people will be able to get enough of what they need for breakfast however.
Afternoon coffee/tea/other drinks and sandwiches available...we thought that they were rather expensive however.
Sadly the 3 days spent there coincided with consistent rain, such that we could not make use of the bedroom's large balcony nor the terrace and garden facilities.
Many fellow residents appeared to only stay 1 or 2 nights and it seems (in September anyway) that many used the hotel as a stop off point on the way to somewhere else. As such a good choice.
Well worth considering if you are in the area of the Atlantic French/Spanish border.

Villa Lorenea is a very comfortable, clean and welcoming b&b. Blanca is an excellent host, making sure you have everything you need. My room was on the entry floor, in the back. While I did hear some car activity in the early morning, I was not bothered by it. Blanca and her helper set out a lovely breakfast table in the garden, weather permitting. She will bring you fresh coffee and orange juice as well as prepare a hot breakfast for you-in my case, delicious scrambled eggs. The bed and linens in the room were comfortable. The bathroom was clean and the plumbing had plenty of pressure and hot water. There is a comfortable, common sitting area. A certain hours, it is possible to order snacks and beverages. I had 2 glasses of a local red while snacking on jambon while reading in the garden. I had to leave early to catch a train. Blanca insisted on fixing me breakfast which I so greatly appreciated even more as the day wore on. The neighborhood is 5 minute walk from the central district or from the seawall promenade. Just down the street are several restaurants, a little, convenience store, hairdresser etc. I would stay here again.

What a wonderful weekend we had back in September.

The place is worthy of a 5 stars hotel! Very polite and kind staff, nicely decorated and big rooms, very clean, a garden with the terrace, has a parking lot, and so on...

Also, placed in a quiet and nice environment; but at a 5 min walking distance to the center of Hondarribia!

Definitely I would recommend this place with no cons at all!

We stayed at Hotel Lorenea for 3 nights in the middle of summer! It was very, very hot and dry but the owners told us that the Summer of 2012 was unusually rain-free!

Breakfast out in the garden was a treat, with lovely fresh fruits, cereals and yoghurt, the loveliest fresh orange juice, and coffee. Hot breakfast could be ordered too.

The B&B is clean and light, with simple, modern furnishing. Helpful and friendly owners made us feel welcome, and even offered to clean my trousers when some oil from one of their bicycles left speckles which I thought would be tricky to clean myself.

A gift of a notebook and pencil in the room was a marvellous touch, and I used the notebook as a travel journal whilst in Hondarribia.

The town itself is small and limited, but we enjoyed visiting the old town and the fun and buzz of the annual rowing regatta, which was on the weekend of our visit. Sadly, we missed the traditional wood cutting!

Pintxos bars and outdoor eating in the main village street - starting around 8pm - were the highlights for us, together with a cycle ride to the far end of the harbour wall one morning.

Note: We would have loved a fan in our room at Hotel Lorenea as there was no air-conditioning, and some hooks to hang clothes and/or scarves on the walls would have been useful too.

All-in-all we would recommend Hotel Lorenea if you are looking for clean, simple accommodation with an excellent breakfast and easy access - you can use the outdoor escalators in the village - to the waters edge and village.

We stayed in Villa Lorenea for 4 nights and had a wonderful experience. The house has been tastefully renovated in a modern but classic style with a high attention to detail throughout.

Our room had a balcony which overlooked the well maintained gardens.

Breakfast was of a very high standard and was served either inside of outside depending on the weather!

Blanca was a very good host offering us good tips on places to visit as well directions. She also accomodated a special early breakfast on our last day when we had to leave early.

The location is fantastic, only a very pleasent 5 minute walk into the lovely town of Hondarribia.

The only minor issue we had was the security light in the room which remained on all night, not good if you require darkness to sleep!
