“Good choice 5-10 min walk from town”
Reviewed 15 May 2014

Located a short walk from both the old town and the newer city of Hondarribia, this 4 star hotel is a good choice.
+ nice, modern rooms with quite large bathroom
+ free parking in hotel garage
+ staff is polite and helpful (with map of the town and recommendations)
+ due to a wedding reception at the hotel that might make some noise in the evening, the hotel offered us (and the other guests I assume!) a complimentary bottle of wine - a nice gesture.
+ roof top terrace and garden

Recommended.

We originally planned to stay in the Parador in Hondarribia but looking at the reviews and comparing prices, we instead opted for this hotel. A good decision. While it does not have the "old-world" atmosphere of a parador, it is welcoming, clean and very comfortable. It is in a residential area that we thought would be quite a distance from the centre, but actually it's only a 10-15 minute walk to the bars and restaurants. The staff are really friendly and helped us orientate ourselves.
The rooms - lovely bathroom - are of a high standard and the beds very comfortable. Huge breakfast (8Euro, well worth it). Very good value stay and they even through in a complimentary welcome cocktail!
Underground free parking for hotel residents.

This is indeed a top flight hotel! Welcoming, friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable, well thought out rooms. Excellent bathrooms. Restaurant serving great food - beautifully presented and full of flavour. Good value wine list. Copious breakfast buffet. All this in a quiet[ish] setting on the hill midway between the old, walled town and the newer [but still characterful] town - with escalators to help you back up the hill to base at the end of a day's walking, shopping or bar hopping, what's not to enjoy? You'd need to be pretty mean spirited not to enjoy your stay here and crave your return.

This is, as most reviews confirm, a top quality hotel. It is very stylish, with the bar and restaurant areas a lovely place to sit. The staff have good English and are helpful in providing suggestions for travel and sightseeing, also providing us with a very detailed map as we checked out. Our room was very clean and well fitted out, in fact we found the cleaners had washed all the floors (something other hotels could learn from!). Although we had sufficient mirrors, a small design fault was not having anywhere to put suitcases other than on the floor in the entrance foyer to the room, however we coped ! We ate in the restaurant in the evenings and it was first rate and excellent value. Breakfast was a nice buffet, the only minor downside was that the cooked portions did not change, - just scrambled egg and bacon; this was made up for by fresh squeezed orange juice and pastries.
Car parking was underneath the hotel, there were free bikes on offer, and it is located in a quiet area. A complimentary cocktail was another nice touch.

Stayed at this hotel with five close school chums on our annual weekend away. The Jaizkibel is modern and the building is unremarkable from the outside. Inside it is well furnished and the rooms are spotlessly clean, comfortable and very peaceful. I would comment, as did another reviewer, that it would be great to have a full length mirror in the bedroom as well as in the bathroom. Breakfast is buffet style, very good quality, with a good variety of sweet and savoury options, and lovely fresh fruit.

We found all the staff at the hotel are wonderful, friendly and helpful. Their English was excellent and they did everything from suggesting places to visit to accommodating us for dinner when the inclement weather prevented us from going into town; this was despite the hotel restaurant being fully booked for the special festival dinner taking place that evening. They made us up a table on the covered terrace, even bringing blankets in case we were cold. And to top all that, they created a vegetarian meal for me - with no notice - that was delicious.

The bar area was a great place to relax with a drink after a busy day touring around and watching the incredible marching bands during the festival.

The hotel It is situated in a residential area, a ten minute walk to the centre - slightly longer for the beach; a trade off for its quiet location. That said, the whole area really livened up during the festival being celebrated while we were there. The Jaizkibel is not cheap but it is very good. The town is lovely and the residents warm and friendly. Festivals seem to be great family occasions.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room just ask. we were on the second floor and it was very peaceful.

this was one of the best hotels i have ever stayed at.
The hotel itself was very clean and spacious
The staff were unbelievably helpful, especially the reception staff-very patient advising us and suggesting things to do
The breakfast had everything you could wish for-we had a fantastic meal one night
it is not suitable for anyone who has difficulty walking. Although its only a short walk to the old town, you do have to go up 3 escalators-the views at the top are great.
all in all you will not be disappointed
note to hotel...can you please put mirrors in the room, the one in the bathroom is not enough!

Excellent location and staff were fantastic. Pace was also clean with kitchen. A little noisy due to the festival, but so good to be so close to it. Only down side is it is not close to the beach. Overall great hotel.
