We returned to the hotel for a family holiday with our toddler. We had a superior apartment which was spotless and a great size. It was serviced every day. Really handy with children as these rooms have a hob, fridge and microwave so you can do simple basic kids meals.
There has been a lot of refurbishment since our last visit and the hotel looks great. Staff are all really friendly and speak great English and German.
We used the childrens creche - you can leave children there if they are over 4 or you can 'stay and play' if they are under 4. This is brilliant as it is open 10:30 - 1:30 every day. However, as last time, the member of staff in there isn't the most engaging nursery nurse (although different to last time) - she was incredibly nice but very shy and quiet. I wouldn't have been confident leaving my daughter there. There wasn't any structured activity or real engagement - or even any noise!
Its a 10-15 minute stroll into town which has a great fish market, loads of restaurants although they aren't cheap, two supermarkets and a launderette.
I would recommend bed and breakfast as this is great value for money. We had the buffet one evening and I don't think it was the same value for money. We went to eat at 6:30 when it opened and hardly any of the main meat...We returned to the hotel for a family holiday with our toddler. I would recommend bed and breakfast as this is great value for money. We had the buffet one evening and I don't think it was the same value for money. We went to eat at 6:30 when it opened and hardly any of the main meat dishes were out at this time - in fact they weren't out until 7pm which meant there was very little choice. If you are eating later I don't think this would be a problem but the food isn't particularly inspiring - usual buffet fare. Would recommend the Thai or Indian takeaways just over the bridge as you walk into town - great food and really handy if you are holidaying with children but don't want to eat really early.
The only disappointment was that we requested a first floor room and were on the ground floor. The aircon didn't make any difference to the room temperature and we couldn't sleep with the windows open. We were right on the corner which was a bit of a thoroughfare - the 4ft trees didn't really shield the patio or offer any privacy - would recommend more screening so the chefs, cleaners and gardeners going back and forth throughout the day don't have to try hard not to catch your eye!
Overall good value for money, spotless and great location but a few things that would make it great!More
