“Very Average”
Reviewed 21 July 2014 via mobile

This used to be a cracking fish and chip shop and thoroughly deserved its awards. But visited recently and was very disappointed . Service was very slow and the food was very average and overpriced. Certainly won't be rushing back

“OVER PRICED”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

Not as good as it was before the fire, now it is just a bog standard chippy, small portions in a silly box, tiny area inside the take away not wide enough for two people, and very very overpriced. I will not be going back.

Delicious fish and chips and home made tartar sauce. It was very clean and we enjoyed listening to the Monday ukelele night in the Salterton Arms opposite

“Fabulous find!”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

We came upon this immaculately clean and extremely pleasant cafe by chance - after spotting the signage on Budleigh's main street. We only went for a walk!! It is a lovely cafe with the most pleasant ambiance, clean, contempory decor and uncluttered. The service was first class and the young girl who served us was very friendly and pleasant. We ordered scampi and the cod which were the perfect size - not overfacing or overcooked or 'fatty' as some are. It was one of the nicest 'fish and chips' we have ever had. We noticed the desserts looked very inviting but just couldn't manage to sample.
I am so very surprised at the negative comments posted here but would certainly recommend this cafe. We arrived at 6.30pm on a tuesday evening and by 7pm all the tables were taken many prebooked. The 'take away' section of the cafe was constantly busy. Prices were average so no quarms there. A good enough recommendation for us!! Certainly will return. Well done Premier Cafe!!

“Not as it was !”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

The restaurant area has been refurbished well but the menu has changed to the detriment of older customers. Gone is the Senior Citizens menu to be replaced by one for " smaller appetites " which consisted of cod/ haddock with small portion of chips and a cup of tea. The choice of haddock had run out by 12.15 midday and the cod consisted of two fingers of highly battered cod and chips" which unfortunately were on the borderline of being returned as they were just about warm enough to be palatable . A disappointing return to a Cafe we had previously been happy to recommend.
