I took my two godsons to this museum, they absolutely loved it. The guide brought it very much alive for them.

A brilliant tour around HMS Alliance submarine - the last remaining A class submarine in the world - by a very informative guide. The submarine has recently been refurbished, with more work to take place early next year, which will put the audio in place. So it will be even better! How the marines worked in such cramped conditions is quite amazing. The tour is a real insight into this. The tour guide was amazing and answered all questions; he even answered questions about modern submarines. We will go back next year when the audio is in place.
One thing to watch out for though - there is not a lot of space so could get quite cramped if the numbers on the tour were large. Also, mind your head!

A thoroughly enjoyable tour through Alliance which lasted significantly more than the advertised 45mins as it was a quiet day. The experience of working and living aboard was brought to life by the excellent ex-submariner guide. The experience will be even better once they have added the audio. It's worth walking through Holland as well to compare with Alliance

Its the fourth time I have visited the Submarine Museum in the past twenty years and have always found it a vey interesting visit especially the guided tour of the submarine. We stayed in Portsmoth so we went across on the ferry which adds to the visit.

We recently visited the submarine museum for the second time. It's a great place and it was fantastic to see the Alliance post-restoration. It was a sunny day in half term week and our only disappointment was that it was so busy that they weren't able to provide the usual guided tours of the Alliance - we just walked through and got a few snippets of information on route. When we visited previously, the tour was the stand-out feature which made the trip worthwhile. Recommended.
