“Quirky museum run by enthusiasts”

Great little musuem housed in one of the surviving stokes lines forts. Don't expect a modern 'interpretive experience', this is a real collection of diving kit and memorabilia run by enthusiasts many of them divers themselves. History is well covered with civilian and military practice compared and contrasted. Guides are very approachable and knowledgeable. Quite how you could spend £3 better ... ice creams are nearly this expensive!!

Well worth the £3.00 admission fee! Our guide was Jon who was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. There are some fantastic pieces of equipment exhibited here and some great photo opportunities.
Keep up the good work lads!

The Alliance has now been refurbished - well done it looks great love the realistic sounds.
I live locally and visited the attractions numerous times over the years - we are lucky to have the museum on our doorstep.
Great little cafe.

“small but good quality and v. interesting”
Reviewed 29 March 2014

well worth a visit very interesting especially the conspiracy theory laden tale of commander crab the Navy diver who dissapeared during a dive in Portsmouth Harbour under a visiting Russian ship, did he work for MI6 and joined the Russians or was he captured by the Russians and killed? http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/may/9/newsid_4741000/4741060.stm, also see the diving bells and suits of the past, a complete history of diving, especially Naval.
