When booking a table I asked for the area next to the bar. This is the nicest section which they confirmed would be fine. Upon arrival that table had been given to another party. The food was average but we all agreed that the chips were just bad. Very oily, not crispy. Rhyd Spence : never again

Called to book half a dozen times - with no answer. We were passing so decided to pop in - the place is beautiful, imposing and well kept with a lovely car park, great view and gorgeous beer garden.
But it was closed - no opening times - no contact numbers or information.
The tables were out, the umbrellas were up and there was a sign asking you to place your order at the bar - so there was life there somewhere.

We continued on our journey - and on the off chance a day or 2 later (on the return trip) - we called in again. Alas, still closed, still no information.

8 family members went for a meal. Service was relaxed and friendly and the food was excellent. If its on the menu the beetroot goats cheese and onion marmalade is an absolute winner. A truly lovely evening in gorgeous surroundings. We'll worth a visit

We were staying over the road in Cabalva farms excellent Mill Cottage and they recommended this - reputedly the oldest pub in Herefordshire. It certainly looks the part inside with its beams and unevenly sized doors but it was very comfortable near the firte and the service was great and so friendly. The beer was excellent
Most of the food was excellent especially the home made soup and puddings but I would say the fish and chips was slightly disappointing as I found the batter a bit soft rather than crispy.
I would definitely go back - it is a very popular place.
