Lovely Sunday lunch

The Rhydspence will always hold a special place in our hearts, it is one of the reasons we moved to the area 6.5yrs ago! First visit since the new owners took over and we are so impressed. Lovely welcome, new Czech lager Pardál on draught (and only 3.8%), fab Sunday roasts all round (beef especially was cooked beautifully, probably the best I've ever tasted as part of a roast dinner). A special mention also for the chutney that came with the cheese board - so delicious. They were also very accommodating of our dog, she's a rescue and can be a little jumpy around other dogs. We will definitely be back soon.

Highly recommended

I can highly recommend the Rhydspence Inn. The new owners are very welcoming and it is a lovely place for food or just for drinks. My Guinea fowl roast was one of the best roast dinners I’ve ever eaten. Horace the resident poodle is an absolute star too. We will definitely be going back!

Exciting fresh start for local favourite.

Very happy to welcome new owners to a local institution. Friendly and efficient service. Delicious starters (perfect range and great accompanying breads).

If they carry on as they are, serving reasonably priced, well cooked and local favourites, the future looks bright.

Awful rude of owner

Lady who runs the pub is very rude
Absolutely cow
Spoke to us like dirt from the minuet we walked in
Deffo do not recommend with customer service like that
Not welcoming at all I will not be going back
We only stopped for a toilet after a long drive and she had ago for asking to go toilet

Excellent Inn

Lovely place. Recommend it. Ancient and attractive. Good beer, cost atmosphere, friendly hosts. Close to Hay on Wye. I would love to learn about the history of the place and visit it again. Set in its own grounds.
