We were only in Spalding overnight, but were totally impressed by this place. The huge highly polished wooden staircase was impressive, and the family room that we stayed in was totally spotless and had everything you could possibly need, including the free Wifi to keep the kids entertained with their Ipods. The kingsize bed was extemely comfortable, probably one of the most comfortable I have slept in when going away, and the kids (although they are both 15) slept well on their bunkbeds. The owners are friendly and welcoming, and do a cracking breakfast. It is really quiet and peaceful, with plenty of private parking. Would we stay there again? Definitely, and hopefully next year when we go up, we will try and stay for a couple of nights. We came home feeling recharged and relaxed (even though it was only for one night!).

My wife and I stayed at Elloe Lodge for 2 nights recently while visiting relatives in the Holbeach/Fleet Hargate area. We chose it for it's convenient and quiet location near the centre of Holbeach and previous favourable reviews. We were not disappointed. The house and hallway with its galleried landing are Edwardian magnificance. The owners were very welcoming from the start and you felt that nothing would be too much trouble. Our room was very comfortable and spacious (an upgrade from our double of choice as we were the only guests), and breakfast was well presented with a wide and varied choice. We were very well looked after by the owners and thoroughly enjoyed our short stay. Needless to say Elloe Lodge will be at the top of our preferred lodgings list when next in this part of Lincolnshire.

My wife and I stayed at the Elloe Lodge for 3 nights for a short break in Spalding area. Conveniently located in a quiet location 5 minutes walk from the centre of Holbeach, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. It was obvious from the start that the owners had put 100% effort into making the Lodge as welcoming and comfortable as possible. The place was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Our lovely twin room was on the first floor and included a fridge along with tea and coffee making facilities. Our en-suite had a separate toilet and bathroom. A relaxing lounge with large TV (with Sky) was provided exclusively for guests. Pre-ordered, freshly cooked full English breakfasts were served by the owners in the very pleasant dining room. It is hard to find fault with this guest house, with ample on-site parking and a peaceful atmosphere, we would have no hesitation whatsoever in staying here again

You arrive at Elloe Lodge via a sweeping driveway up to the front door, adorned with victorian lighting and large stone steps. The house was beautiful, both inside and out being of the edwardian era The majestic hallway, with stripped wooden floors, beautiful wooden panelling and a gallery landing are very impressive. The dining room is to the left and the lounge is to the right.

We were greeted at the door by Norman Vasey (we met his wife Gillian at breakfast the following morning) Dressed in his painting and decorating overalls, you feel more like arriving at a welcoming home rather than a souless hotel!

We were shown up to our room which was more spacious than the twin we had booked (we sneaked a peek as we were the only residents with it being a Friday) which was a nice surprise. Inside there was a double and a bunk bed, a sofa, tv, etc, the usual necessities and a lovely en suite still housing the original cast iron fireplace. On one side of the room was a window with delightful views of the garden and duck pond. On the other is a view of new housing development, but far enough away to be no bother. We did have some scaffolding outside this window, assuming the proprietor was engaging in the building maintenance, hence the overalls perhaps?! :-)

Breakfast the following morning was in the dining room, which we had all to ourselves, after filling out the menu form in our bedroom the night before and leaving it on the hallway desk. We were allowed to choose what time we wanted it, great! Cereals and fruit juice were available on the oak dresser, then we chose a cooked dish from the menu. I had a lovely mushroom omelette and my husband had a full english. Both were delicious.

My only comments would be that although you get a key to the front door, you do not get one for the bedroom itself. It is lockable only from the inside. We were also unsure as to whether we were allowed to walk around the gardens as nothing had been mentioned on checking in. We were also allowed to check out at whatever time we wanted which was a refreshing change from feeling pressured, so we left around 11.30/12pm.

We would definitely recommened Elloe Lodge for an overnight stay. :-)

Room Tip: Great for families

Thanks for the review, sorry about greeting you in my overalls, it was such a beautiful day that catching up on the exterior decorating was obligatory (said my wife).
Considering individual locks on internal doors and the gardens are fully open to all our guests to enjoy throughout their stay. Apologies for not conveying this information to you on your arrival.
