“Excellent all round”
Reviewed 5 September 2012

I stay in hotels several times a week, on business. I've had several poor experiences of B&B accommodation but after 50 odd stays in Premier/Holiday inns, decided to return to B&Bs and try Elloe Lodge. It turned out to be one of the best and most impressive ones I've stayed in.

The house is easy enough to find. My satnav struggled with the postcode, taking me about 100 yds further up, but inputting the address took me straight there. Parking is no problem on the impressive drive. The house looks lovely from the outside and is immaculate inside with a fabulous staircase and wood panelling/polished floors. The guest lounge is lovely, with big screen and sky. Free wifi is fast and efficient. The room was a twin with separate toilet and spacious bathroom. Sky TV was in the room but I didn't use it. The Wifi connection was strong in the room. Norman and Gillan have thought of everything, and the rooms are very well kitted out, even with moist toilet tissue and cotton buds, which I've never seen before in a hotel! The shower was not a power shower, but water pressure was OK; certainly better than the dribble of water you get in some hotels. Bed was very comfortable, and I slept very well. Breakfast the next morning was very good. Again, everything you needed was there, including fruit, 'Bonne Maman' jam of every variety, freshly squeezed orange etc. I had asked for poached eggs on toast the previous evening, which Norman cooked perfectly.

I got the room for £45 from Booking.com, so it was very good value and certainly far better than a chain hotel for quality, service and that personal touch.

We're delighted to have ticked the boxes for our guest on this visit,it's always a joy to get feed back.
If using sat nav it's best to enter our postal address rather than the post code, the post code area, being very rural ,is large and you can end up several hundred yards away.
One of the best things about being involved in B & B, is meeting and talking to our visitors when they are here. It really is something new every day and nearly always interesting.
Many thanks for taking the time and trouble to do this review,it's appreciated as much by ourselves as I am sure it is by future visitors.
Look forward to seeing you again.

As soon as we arrived we were greeted by the owner who was expecting us. It is a beautiful renovated house with so many old features and a lovely atmosphere.
The room was very good and spotlessly clean. There was nothing else they could have thought of. The only minus was, there was no door between the bedroom and bathroom, only a curtain and the entrance to the room was straight into the bathroom. From the outside the room door could not be locked, so when you go out this has to be left open.
The breakfast was amazing and the best cooked breakfast I have ever eaten. There were so many other things you could never go hungry and the hospitality was faultless.
The small town of Holbeach is a 2 minute walk away and we had the most lovely meal and service in the pub at the end of the road.
Definitely great value for money.

We stayed at Elloe Lodge for 1 night, we chose Elloe lodge based on previous reviews, the entrance hall is very impressive, the rooms were lovely and the breakfast was very good, especially the mushroom, being a vegetarian and reasonably fussy I do sometimes dread B&B breakfast, however at Elloe lodge you are presented with a menu the night before and can state the items you require of course this is in addition to the usual cereals, juices, toasts etc

There was no pressure to leave in the morning, unlike some guest houses that we have visited, Elloe lodge has a residents lounge and we sat in the lounge for some time, making full use of the free WiFi to catch up on emails etc.

I would recommend this accommodation to anyone who needs to stay in the area, overall very pleased and reasonably priced

We were only in Spalding overnight, but were totally impressed by this place. The huge highly polished wooden staircase was impressive, and the family room that we stayed in was totally spotless and had everything you could possibly need, including the free Wifi to keep the kids entertained with their Ipods. The kingsize bed was extemely comfortable, probably one of the most comfortable I have slept in when going away, and the kids (although they are both 15) slept well on their bunkbeds. The owners are friendly and welcoming, and do a cracking breakfast. It is really quiet and peaceful, with plenty of private parking. Would we stay there again? Definitely, and hopefully next year when we go up, we will try and stay for a couple of nights. We came home feeling recharged and relaxed (even though it was only for one night!).

My wife and I stayed at Elloe Lodge for 2 nights recently while visiting relatives in the Holbeach/Fleet Hargate area. We chose it for it's convenient and quiet location near the centre of Holbeach and previous favourable reviews. We were not disappointed. The house and hallway with its galleried landing are Edwardian magnificance. The owners were very welcoming from the start and you felt that nothing would be too much trouble. Our room was very comfortable and spacious (an upgrade from our double of choice as we were the only guests), and breakfast was well presented with a wide and varied choice. We were very well looked after by the owners and thoroughly enjoyed our short stay. Needless to say Elloe Lodge will be at the top of our preferred lodgings list when next in this part of Lincolnshire.

My wife and I stayed at the Elloe Lodge for 3 nights for a short break in Spalding area. Conveniently located in a quiet location 5 minutes walk from the centre of Holbeach, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. It was obvious from the start that the owners had put 100% effort into making the Lodge as welcoming and comfortable as possible. The place was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Our lovely twin room was on the first floor and included a fridge along with tea and coffee making facilities. Our en-suite had a separate toilet and bathroom. A relaxing lounge with large TV (with Sky) was provided exclusively for guests. Pre-ordered, freshly cooked full English breakfasts were served by the owners in the very pleasant dining room. It is hard to find fault with this guest house, with ample on-site parking and a peaceful atmosphere, we would have no hesitation whatsoever in staying here again
