I stay in hotels several times a week, on business. I've had several poor experiences of B&B accommodation but after 50 odd stays in Premier/Holiday inns, decided to return to B&Bs and try Elloe Lodge. It turned out to be one of the best and most impressive ones I've stayed in.
The house is easy enough to find. My satnav struggled with the postcode, taking me about 100 yds further up, but inputting the address took me straight there. Parking is no problem on the impressive drive. The house looks lovely from the outside and is immaculate inside with a fabulous staircase and wood panelling/polished floors. The guest lounge is lovely, with big screen and sky. Free wifi is fast and efficient. The room was a twin with separate toilet and spacious bathroom. Sky TV was in the room but I didn't use it. The Wifi connection was strong in the room. Norman and Gillan have thought of everything, and the rooms are very well kitted out, even with moist toilet tissue and cotton buds, which I've never seen before in a hotel! The shower was not a power shower, but water pressure was OK; certainly better than the dribble of water you get in some hotels. Bed was very comfortable, and I slept very well. Breakfast the next morning was very good. Again, everything you needed was there, including fruit, 'Bonne Maman' jam of every variety, freshly squeezed orange etc. I had asked for poached eggs on toast the previous evening, which Norman cooked perfectly.
I got the room for £45 from Booking.com, so it was very good value and certainly far better than a chain hotel for quality, service and that personal touch.
