Well after another fabulous stay Stonecrop, what more can I say. Love love, love, this place. Can wait to come back. Richard and Emma who own the cottage are a lovely couple and can't do enough to make your stay as comfortable as you could want. It's so idyllic and you go home feeling very rested. There are wonderful walks from right outside your front door. The countryside and river close by is also fantastic. Everytime we come we fetch our 2 dogs and can assure you they love it just as much as we do. This cottage is a hidden treasure and we can't recommend it highly enough.
9 days in the county, peace & quiet (zero noise or light pollution!), absolutely fantastic! Cottage is in a lovely location, on a private road (that leads to a farm), of note one of the roads into the hamlet is currently closed so advise you approach from the north, so very little traffic. All well maintained & well stocked with all you need (and many extras - the girls loved the using the binoculars to watch the birds & rabbits). Plenty of space inside, never felt crowded (there were 5 of us & 2 dogs). Many surrounding walks & near to Hadrian's Wall & much more. Wildlife a plenty, either visible from the garden, or around in the countryside, so many rabbits!!!!! Can't recommend enough, perfect for a romantic getaway, walking holiday or family escape, and is dog friendly :)
Very peaceful location. A great family, friendly cottage with plenty of character. Amazing countryside, Hadriens Wall being only a few miles away with spectacular walks. A lovely walk from the cottage along the river too.
We stayed in Stonecrop Cottage for our summer holidays in the Northern Pennines. The kids had plenty of space to run and play outside in the sumptuous garden. Beautiful views across the garden. The living room provides a snug place for the evenings or rainy days, logfiren included. All in all, this cottage is something out of a Jane Austen novel but with all the mod coms (and with very friendly landlords - they sent home some left luggage at no extra cost!)
The surroundings are beautiful and tranquil. Beautiful walks everywhere, especially along the Pennine Way. Alston is a nice town to visit, and Hadrian’s Wall and the Lake District are not too far away as well. The children loved it here, and the parents as well!
The best equipped cottage we have ever stayed in and we've been to many over the years very dog friendly garden , warm and cosy , if in Northumberland again iand available we would definitely stay again
