A warm welcome for two MTBrs completing a pennine circuit. Just under 5 miles north of Haltwistle and a mile or so north of the wall. If you need pubs and a kebab, stop reading and look for something else. The location is very isolated but very cleverly, everything a weary traveler needs is within the walls with incredible scenery and history without. There is a great little bar area, restaurant and very comfortable, large lounge; all places to exchange stories and travels with fellow guests from all over - Australia, Holland, America, Chorley!
Comfortable rooms, clean throughout, good food, good staff, easy booking online, cycle, walk, drive all welcome. Easy recommendation.

After a long hard day walking the Pennine Way you look across a few fields and see a farm building in splendid isolation and realise that's where you are staying for the night. You brace yourself for whatever it holds and dream of home. And then, you get closer and walk past the windows and see polished dark wood tables with menus that would not be out of place on Wardour Street! You are met with a generous and amiable welcome and shown your room which is near perfect in cleanliness and simple but modern decor. Shockingly there's also a small bar with beer on tap and a comfortable lounge with loads of snugly sofas, all awash with wifi so you can surf away as you snuggle. The food is unexpectedly sophisticatedly presented and tastes great and there are likely to be up to a dozen other guest in what really is except in name 'the restaurant'.
Go expecting a dowdy old farmhouse with poor facilities and be amazed. The only fault I could find was that the wifi did't reach my room. That's it! Very much recommended!

Very well positioned B&B, the owners are happy to pick you up from the Steel Rigg car park on the Hadrian's Wall Trail, much appreciated after a weary day's walking. Huge communal sitting room which is well equipped with books, guides and pool table. Dinner was excellent and well priced with 1,2 or 3 course options. Choice at breakfast was vast; museli, cereal, porridge, full English, pancakes and more.

Although the Guide Book advertises Saughy Rigg as 1/2 mile from the route, Walkers should be aware at the end of a long day that it is a mile to the front door! However, there is nothing else nearby and fortunately the following day, the owner dropped us off at the start which helped save our legs.

The owners were really friendly and made us feel very welcome at all times. The room was excellent and had a four poster bed which is always a bit special. As the farm is a fair distance form the nearest pub, evening meals are available and the food was excellent. The breakfast the following morning was also excellent.

There is a bar which normally has draught beer available but due to it being out of the main season, the pumps were just a mirage for thirsty walkers! Cans and bottles were available though to save the day!

A very welcoming B&B and would stay there again.

We recently stayed for one night whilst walking the wall. The staff couldn't have been more helpful & friendly. They collected us from the wall and returned us there in the morning to save the extra mile! We were served tea & coffee on arrival. The room was very comfortable and clean. There was a drying room for our boots etc. The evening meal was fantastic - large portions of excellent home cooked food, breakfast was also very good. I cannot fault this place and would recommend highly to anyone. Ruth T

We stayed here for our third night of Hadrians Wall. Comfortable room, friendly people and the food was excellent. Eve's pudding was exactly what we needed after the walk! Would recommend the mushroom risotto as a close second behind the Eve's pudding!

We stayed one night while hiking Hadrian's Wall, but it would be a great place to spend more time—close to a number of trails, etc. The food was great, the tiny bar very cosy for a post-hike drink, and the staff were very helpful.
