My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. (we've just celebrated number 3 - it won't let me put earlier than June 2013 so really, really late in posting this!)
We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves and we couldn't have felt more relaxed or welcome - right down to receiving a bottle of fizz and walnut whips from the owners on the evening of our anniversary, which we just had to have despite having had a rather filling meal and several drinks at the Black Bull beforehand! We were also given some beautiful homemade sloe gin (I think made by their neighbours but this may be the drink befuddling my memory!)
The room was lovely and comfortable, breakfasts delicious and well, as I already said, you couldn't ask for more welcoming friendly hosts!

Excellent spot to stay in Haltwhistle. Very good room. Nick is a super host. Very helpful. Made use of his library of books concerning Hadrian's Wall and the area. Very useful for planning. Directed us to the Black Bull for an evening meal. Very good spot. Excellent breakfast in the morning. Will be returning!

We stayed for two nights,Nick gave us a warm welcome and willing to advise places to go and things to do.Nick also offered us the loan of maps and walking equipment and the knowledge of Housesteads where we were going to walk.Annette was very polite and friendly and made us a beautiful breakfast. The room was very comfortable and the bed to, just what we needed after a good walk on Hadrians wall.Excellent service and would stay there again and would recommend to others.

Room Tip: Room face onto quite road

We've only crashed at this b&b for one night. Didn't even have breakfast as we had to leave early in the morning for work. Room was spacious and nicely decorated. Really comfy bed with lots of pillows so 5 stars in my eyes!! Owners are lovely and the lady was up at 6am for us, gave us lots of bananas when she heard we had to get going without breakfast. Best b&b I stayed in the region so far. Highly recommended!

We stayed either side of a charity challenge walk on Hadrians Wall, Netti & Nick were great to us on our arrival and so caring of us doing the walk. Nothing was too much trouble for them, lending us poles and umbrella for the whole weekend. We loved our stay in Haltwistle and would certainly stay at Chare Close again. Excellent.

Room Tip: The room at the back was lovely, light and quiet.
