An engaging pub in Askrigg. Do yourself a favour and pay them a visit. The locals are immensely friendly and the beer, well it just begs you to stay for another.

Had a meal here last night. Friendly and efficient staff, very good steak and ale pie and lovely restaurant. Returning on Saturday for Anniversary meal.

From the outside this place looks cosy and authentic.....get inside and it is a run of the mill pub.....the restaurant is a conservatory type set up. However that said ,the food was excellent and the waitresses very attentive so worth a visit to eat, The landlady could do with a few lessons in customer service however as she did not come over as very welcoming.

We are staying locally and chose this place as it was our first night and had not had time to look around. Its very old fashioned and lacks atmosphere. the Landlord and and Landlady had a very take it or leave it attitude some may put that down to "The Yorkshire Way" but we dined elsewhere and the difference was marked, welcoming and friendly. The food was average and the price reflected that, so I suppose good value. But I do not think I would go back

The food was good, but the place didn't have much atmosphere. The staff were attentive, but seemed a bit over worked. We were told to go to our table by the landlady....she didnt show us to it, it felt impersonal. However compliments to the chef.
