“Fantastic location and a lovely place to stay”

Firstly, the cottage has everything anyone could want to enhance a short break from home, I can't think of a single thing that was not provided and we were very comfortable. There walks in every directions from the front door resulted in us driving around the area less than anticipated and saw some stunning countryside. Askrigg village has 3 good pubs and a terrific bakery / tea rooms providing lovely fresh products. Another shop a few doors down stocks every other item including milk, papers and fruit and veg etc meaning we had no need to go shopping for our food requirements for our stay.

Reviewed 23 November 2015 for a stay in November 2015

Very nicely renovated cottage in the lovely village of Askrigg,
Spacious & comfortable cottage with all modern appliances.
The village is very friendly with three great pubs all with open fires, good food & excellent Real Ale,
Highly recommended.

“Beautiful, cosy cottage in an outstanding area.”
Reviewed 16 November 2015 for a stay in November 2015

We have just returned from a lovely few days at Cringley Cottage. Very welcoming, cosy cottage. The area is stunning and plenty of good walks from the cottage. Lovely little village with local store and pub. The Kings Arms is a great local to chill for a few beers after a long walk. We also had a meal there which was good. The owner of the cottage left us a welcome pack with some fresh goodies which was very much appreciated. All in all we really enjoyed our stay there and hope to be able to return in the near future.

Loved the cottage - It was so peaceful.
It has everything you could possible need - DVD's, ironing board, maps and guide books. All which enhanced the week end and meant that you need to pack less.
There was also a lovely welcome basket which made us feel really special
I think it was the cleanest place I have ever stayed, it was immaculate.
A long soak in the bath was very welcome after our walks.T
There are 3 local pubs and a little cafe. All were very nice and the staff very welcoming.
Really enjoyed our stay and will definitely look to go back in the not so distance future.

“Another lovely stay”

Being extremely fond of the Yorkshire Dales we visit quite frequently and usually choose to go self catering. We have stayed in various places in the Dales, but often gravitate towards Askrigg as it is such a lovely village with a choice of pubs and facilities and great walks in any direction from the village. Cringley Cottage is 1 of 3 holiday cottages in Wensleydale owned by Debbie and Steve Allenby and we have stayed in all 3 - with this visit being our second visit to Cringley Cottage. All 3 cottages are finished to a high standard with comfortable furniture and pleasant decor and all are extremely well equipped and reasonably priced when compared like for like with other properties. Cringley Cottage is lovely and warm due to good insulation and electric radiators (better than night storage as they are thermostatically controlled) and also has a Aga log burner should you want to light it - which we did just because it is so nice to sit in with a warm fire. The cottage has WiFi and free view TV for those that don't want to get away from it all - but phone reception is poor. (There is a landline for emergencies or incoming calls)
A welcome pack of milk, bread, eggs and cheese was also very welcome.
We will no doubt be booking with Debbie and Steve again in future and recommend their properties for anyone else who wants a nice base to tour the Dales from.
