Wonderfulness, cooked with passion.

Don't be put off by the slightly grumpy landlord - it's all part of the experience :-)

Our excellent experience here will remain with us for I think forever. Friendly helpful service. Brilliant menu. We could have chosen several dishes from the chalk board special menu. But I went for the Herb crusted Lamb etc. It was, well it was tasty, tender, and just as it should be. full compliments to the Chef. Husband chose slow braised blade of beef etc. All excellent. We both had Eaton Mess for Desert with strawberries. yum, yum.
We found the price just right. And wished we had a restaurant in our area like this one.

ate here on 29th sep 2013 and was so disappointed with the value for money and size of the meal,
even the veg came in a miniscule finger dip sized bowl,it was a good job id bought some rolls in wallingford to fill me up .on the plus side the little i had was tasty but i definately would not eat here again.!

We have just had a fantastic sunday roast here. My husband had lamb and I had rib of beef. Everything was perfectly cooked and fresh, the yorkshire pudding was home made too and enormous!! Fresh veg and lovely home made gravy. Nothing bad at all to say, great service, great food, my husband was impressed with the beer too which was a real ale from a well kept cellar. Nice pudding and cheeseboard to follow with a lovely proper coffee. We would definately go back.

We took nine days rowing the Thames in a skiff recently and this was one of the best pub lunches we had. The slow roast pork belly (with bubble and squeak) was just meltingly tender; the crackling on top lovely and crispy.
Good choice of real ale too.
Moored the skiff just above Days lock - it's worth searching these smaller pubs out away from the river!
Would go back to Dorchester just for lunch here again!
