“Avoid Warborough!”
Reviewed 25 April 2014

The room was a cross between a broom cupboard and a shoe-box; there must be reasonable rooms at the hotel but Warborough isn't one of them. It is right on the main street with no double glazing, so every conversation outside can be overheard, and divided from the Lounge by a paper-thin wall. The Receptionist couldn't move us and offered to reduce the cost from £95 to £65 saying it probably wouldn't be noisy on the street much after 10.30pm! We declined the offer and checked out at a cost of £40. Fortunately we found accommodation at The George Hotel, over the road, at a cost of £70 for a room at least three times the size, featuring a four-poster bed and a large bathroom, where we enjoyed a peaceful night and an excellent breakfast.

Room Tip: If offered Warborough go elsewhere!

The hotel has a range of quality rooms at different sizes, all with high occupancy and satisfaction rates. If a specific room type is required it is always best to call the hotel directly.
Third party booking sites remove the opportunity to relate with our guests in the first instance.
If you are visiting Dorchester in the future please give us a call to arrange one of our larger rooms.

My husband and I have just returned from a 2 night stay at this quaint and very welcoming hotel courtesy of a travel zoo package. Our room was a good size, beautifully presented and very quiet. Yes the floor boards do creak but for us that was part of the charm although I can appreciate if you are under such a noise with people who wander round during the night it could be annoying but quite frankly hotels are public places and rarely annoyance free. We found all staff polite and very helpful. For the money paid food was plentiful and more than adequate, particularly breakfast which kept us going all day ! If I had to criticise anything it would be the fish pie which was very white and pretty much flavourless but I am a home economist with a passion for good seasoning and colour ( using so much cream instead of a well made sauce didn't help. Infact using cream as a quick sauce is probably the chefs main fault ). Starters and desserts were excellent. Overall we enjoyed our stay in such a historical building and village and will definitely return.

Room Tip: It is a main road so being on the back is probably quieter. We were in 5 which was nicely tucked awa...

We stayed here for two nights..Easter weekend. The hotel was in a good location... 10 minutes on the train into Oxford.
The food was very good..with even better service. All the staff were very friendly... and very accessible.
We had a lovely welcome.. the room was excellent with a very comfy bed.
We didn't witness any of the negativity made by other reviewers.
We would certainly stay here again.. A
and strongly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for quality accommodation.

Enjoyed a two night stay which included a visit to the impressive Blenheim Palace. The room was clean and comfortable, we slept well, breakfast was excellent and the staff were very good. There was a slight glitch with the evening meals but overall it was a very good experience and we'd certainly stay here again. The village itself is quite interesting with some decent short walks and it has a large abbey which is well worth a visit.

I am not sure what to say really - the previous reviews are so good regarding food and service but what we experienced was not good unfortunately - I don't like writing bad reviews but we were a tad disappointed with the service and food in the restaurant. I would however like to say a bit thank you to Maria on reception and the work she did in the restaurant. We had a lovely room - The Dorchester Suite - and flowers and wine had been arranged from my partner via the hotel - the flowers were beautiful. We and a lot of the guests did encountered cold food and long delays at dinner and at breakfast. There was also a lack of presence of waiting staff in the dining room - there were lots of complaints amongst the guests - not sure how much got back to the management. Sean, the Manager did come and see us and we did get complimentary drinks and the service the following day was superb and the food hot. I would like to return again as it is a beautiful hotel in a pretty village. Our room did overlook the kitchen and staff area where there were multiple cigarette breaks and it was quite noisy in the mornings with the chit-chat and door slamming. I think going by previous reviews, we just picked a bad weekend.

Room Tip: We had the Dorchester Suite which is lovely but the bathroom downstairs.

Apologies for service delays on Easter Saturday - we were inundated but should have handled the situation better. I'm pleased that we were able to offer you complimentary drinks and that you would like to return to The White Hart - we'll do better next time!

We went there this evening as we are boating down the Thames. We wont go on the way back.
We arrived about quarter to eight and ordered about eight. The starters arrived at quarter to nine. no apology just dropped on the table. The other couple who were there before us walked out. The starter was mainly lettuce with a small amount of cheese and peppers at the bottom with no dressing. The main course was bland. They didn't offer sweets and when we paid at the bar before leaving no one enquired if everything was OK, may be they knew already.

We can only apologise for not achieving our normal standards of service. Twice as many covers v's bookings took us by surprise but we should have managed the situation better. If you are in the area in the near future please ring Sean Harris, General Manager and he will try to make your next visit a delight.
